Mexican Flags
A friend wishes to display a large Mexican flag on their roof. I thought I had read here that there are laws regarding who can, when you can, ect. Ran
a search, zilch. Help????

Two years ago I was flying a 3'x5' Mexican flag on El Coyote beach. Mexican immigration stopped by and told me to take it down. No laws were mentioned
but they said it would be ok if I flew one much smaller.
I got the impression that since it could be seen from highway 1 people might think it was some official goverment palapa.

Proper to have the Mex flag .....be first in line......all others second
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Shouldn't do that. There are laws, or regulations....actually a government agency that oversees how/where national symbols should be displayed. Look
around...you don't see them as you do in the states [except around independence day] , and as patriotic as Mexicans can be, if they could display the
flag, they would.
A few years back, a US based music group was playing in Estadio Azteca in DF and one of their guitars was decorated as the National flag. The owner
caught serious, expensive crap from the government for this "disrespect."
If I can find that article, I'll post it here.
In the meantime, here's something:

Flying High
I have a set of flags that I used to fly in residence from the day I arrived until I left. Now, I still do, but less frequently.
Mexican (about 2x3) uppermost, U.S. (next smaller size) next, etc.
NOBODY (including officials) EVER had a negative word. Many had something positive to say, especially the fact that Mex was first and BIGGEST.
That said, the law is the law WHEN they want it to be. That's the thing about Mexico. Law enforcement is in the mind of the official on site at the
time and is creatively applied.

There are Mexican flags flying on gringo houses all over San Felipe. Maybe Immigration could care less there.

It's not really an immigration issue.....more one of bad taste if the flag flyer knows better.
On a larger level, it may draw more serious attention....from somebody. Maybe a lot of somebodys.

I fly the Mexican Flag every day and one US Historical Flag that I rotate (Gadsend today). Both are the same size and displayed the same height two
meters apart. On Mexican Independence day we fly six Mexican flags. No one has ever complained.

I personaly am disgusted by anyone wearing any article of clothing made of or depicting the flag whether it be the Mexican or American flag. It is
their display of personal ignorance by doing so.
