Boat Friendly hotels along the peninsula
Once again I will be dragging my boat back to BCS. When towing, this is typically a 2 or 3 day run for me and where I stay is always dependent on
what time I cross the border and who has room enough for me to park my truck and boat trailer.
Over the years I have stopped at various places such as the Tourist hotel in El Rosario, the La Pinta/Desert in in Catavina, Malarrimos in GN, La
Serenidad in Mulege, and even camped at Buenaventura on Concepcion. The one place I have found to stay in Loreto has been the El Morro. It has been
adequate so far because all trips with the boat to date have been "guy trips". This time my wife will be driving with me and I was hoping someone
could suggest a little better place to stay in Loreto than the El Morro if we decide we need to stop there. I have also listed the other places I
have stayed over the years in case some make better suggestions.

Alan, the Hotel Morro is a little worn out, but you can put your boat up against your room door. This is the one a mile or so south of Santa Rosalia.
If you leave Ensenada at dawn, you can make Santa Rosalia just after dark. As you mentioned, I feel my boat is safe at the Serenidad also. If you hit
San Quintin the first night, Jardines would be a good option, making Mulege or Loreto very easy the next day. If I were to hit Loreto before dark, I'd
just not stop until La Paz!

Hey Rat. No offense, but in my opinion, I really could not describe the parking lot at Hotel Angra as spacious. I give them kudos for great rates,
however.
That said, in the Loreto area, one might consider Hacienda Suites, where they have a walled lot behind the property that they secure from dusk until
dawn.
And, although in my opinion, some entity ought to buy the property with its great beachfront location, and refurbish or rebuild, the current Desert
Inn has tons of parking, right by the rooms and has been running some great rates.

I also recommend the El Morro in Santa Rosalia. The rooms were fine and the courtyard was pretty secure, park your boat right in front of your room.
Lots of space. I have also parked my small boat and tricked out trailer (15' klamath) at the Baja Cactus in El Rosario and felt pretty good about it
though a larger boat would take a little doing to wedge into their courtyard.

We faced this very situation a couple of weeks back. The only thing that kept me going was that when we'd gotten within cellphone range in Guerrero
Negro that morning we found out someone had broken into our home in La Paz. The idea of taking our time to get back evaporated at that moment.
My point is; unless I had urgent business, I'd stay at Loreto if darkness caught me there. The road betwen Loreto and Ciudad Insurgentes has got to be
one of the most dangerous sections of highway in BCS, according to the number of accidents reported in local papers. Lots of drunks, I'd say from the
descriptions of many of the accidents. On our recent trip, we saw many black cows (harder to see) along the road that night, and a spectacular
accident involving a pickup and an 18-wheeler, at the foot of Ligüi grade.
I must be getting old, I didn't use to be so sensible.
