One "prom queen" restaurant that I do like is La Villa del Valle in the Valle de Guadalupe. Took my best girlfriend(my mother) there last spring. VdV provides the best wine tasting in the valley in terms of hosts Phil & Eileen Gregory's wine(Vena Cava) and the grand indoor/outdoor lounges and fireplaces.

They used to only serve dinner to non-B&B guests on a 48 hour advance res' & when available. Just now opened new restaurant, Corazon de Tiera and I'm planning a visit next week. The menu, above, is what they served some irreverent TV chef on a recent visit.

Yes, Corazon de Tierra. Have not yet dined there but it's on this month's schedule. The chef is Diego Hevaq and yes, Anthony Bourdain did spend a day there last week. Diego is well respected by other chefs here in Ensenada and we look forward to experiencing his cuisine. And Villa de Valle is a beautiful spot!

For really fine dining, Doug. I would have to recommend Punta Moro. Just north of town about 4 miles. It has a beautiful restaurant built on stilts over the crashing waves and a menu that's beyond compare. Very romantic atmosphere. The service is superb.

El Rey Sol is my second choice.

There's a lot happening in Ensenada on the culinary front since the University started a "Be a Chef without ever working in a real restaurant" program. They're pumping Chefs out the back door like field hands and the competition for jobs at Chef level has to be brutal.
It's like the Oceanography program at UABC. There are so many Oceanographers wandering the streets of the city that they end up taking whatever comes along...quite often in seafood restaurants.....as Chefs.

I think the title, "Chef," has become diluted and meaningless anyway. Kinda like the term, "Art."

Gimme a bacon wrapped hotdog any day and keep 'em coming.
