Welcome targa88 to the BN!

Others forget that sometimes Newbies dont have a clue how to navigate ...once they arrive here at the board. I apologize for the prior rudeness.

This link I believe will have your answers. Most folks here ...will help with further questions that you may have.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Bici Maps has a GPS map for Baja and it works on your Garmin unit.

Unless you're really willing to hack a few apps and do some real GPS legwork, you will probably be disappointed, esp once you get into more remote locations. They work down there - I have a Garmin - but for detail, they can be rough. Very handy for marking where you are/where you've been/how to get back, but if you're hoping to see a layout of the goat trails, no dice.

Read the linked-to threads and make your call, but bring the Almanac and a map wheel.

What mean "map wheel"?

Dirt biking I use a GPS in conjunction with the Baja Almanac.

If your on paved roads and major dirt roads the AAA map will work well.

This be a map wheel...

http://www.amazon.com/Alvin-Co-SC00700-SCALEX-WHEEL/dp/B001E...

You use it to trace roads/trails, etc and it helps you keep track of how long to/from each turnoff, split, bend, etc. Very handy. Problem is, the Almanac stubbornly refuses to print scale. I have figured it out before and wanna say it's either 250K:1 or 150K:1 Once you get that part down, the wheel is occasionally very helpful.
