Your favorite fishing tackle store is..?
Like most of us fishermen, I am always looking for some great deals on rods, reels, and tackle. In my case, I am
coming cross-country from way the hell-and-gone Up North and can take advantage of several tackle shops along the way.
But..it seems that San Diego is the most handy and logical place to buy saltwater tackle supplies for Baja Sur fishing...both Sea of Cortez and
Pacific sides. (90% of my fishing in on the Cortez side.) I'm hoping many nomads will have other recommendations on tackle shops in San Diego...or
wherever it's handy for YOU.
Here's an old favorite of mine. 'Squidco' on Midway & Barnett, SD
3518 Barnett Avenue

I have shopped Squidco since it used to be nearer the downtown area...huge warehouse then. (Bought cases of #9 Rapala deep-divers there in the early
70's that were real fish-killers for my winters on the SOC.)
Other San Diego favorites is Fisherman's Landing at Shelter Island near Pt. Loma Seafoods...yummy place to eat.

West Marine on Rosecrans just seemed 'too spendy' for some gear?? Maybe your experience was different?

By the way...Day at the Docks is coming up soon, right?
Time to restock the RV for Baja and Beyond...

So...what shops are your favorite for good deals on tackle in San Diego? ..or maybe you shop online or wherever?

Hook is correct - Charkbait is great. Online and stores in Huntington Beach (where I shop) and a newer store in San Diego.
Also, The Longfin in Orange, California.
Both are candy stores for fishermen. Take lots of $$ as they both have great stuff.

Great info about Charkbait.com...just mapped it in San Diego:

Will be shopping there next trip to compare with Squidco, which is in the same neighborhood. Fun times!

I have stopped in that little store from time to time...knowledgeable people.
Also used to shop Hook, Line, & Sinker for many years, but sad to say, they are out of business nowadays. I liked the Today's
Fishing Reports they used to post at the entryway.

You betcha, Cypress. Cabela's is one great place for outdoorsmen-women to shop. I stop at two of them every time I
head south to Baja, plus we have one close-by Up North for local purchases, too. Big game, waterfowl, fishing, camping, Duk-Shak decor, you name
it...Cabela's has it.
This is a Cabela's I stopped to shop while passing through Billings, Montana on my route to Baja this last October...my kind of mall!

I bought goose decoys, camping cookware, sausage making equipment, and a coffin cooler for my Yarcraft.

Another thing I like about Cabela is their appreciation and presentations of the history of outdoorsmen in America. This shop had a remarkable photo
gallery on hunting & fishing. This vintage photo reminds me of my Nodak fishing heritage..great fishing, , great companionship, great scenic
waters..finest kind!

yeah...I like Cabela's, too..
Where else can you get a discounted price on quality polarized sunglasses and a cup of chili thrown in??

I've always liked Squidco, nothing fancy and the guys know their stuff.
You mentioned Point Loma Seafoods, have you tried Mitch's? Right down the way from PL.
