Charkbait.com. Hands down. |
I've heard lots of good reports on Charkbait.com..glad to see they are still coming. Can you ship direct to San Carlos, Paul?
|
No, no. I have it shipped to friends coming down.
I'm in Phoenix right now for a week of baseball and a friend just brought me a new Avet LX 6/3 I ordered from Charkbait. I have never actually been in
their store. Just online ordering.
Also ordered stuff from The Longfin that Charkbait was out of. It pays to order EARLY from Charkbait as they often seem to be out of some stuff. Hey,
they're popular.
Going by Phoenix Fishing Supply in the next day or so. It has been recommended as the best saltwater tackle store in the Valley of the Sun. Just
looking for some terminal stuff, at this point.

Squidco is my number one. I have purchased from Charkbait online. Just got some killer Seeker trolling rods a few months back.
Squidco not being open on Sunday is a problem, but they are like family. It's amazing how Joey remembers everyone's name.

Yeah, I do miss Larry Burson and the wife. Suddenly, they were just.........gone. The new owners seemed pretty knowledgeable, but I never really got
to know them.
Jig Stop certainly gets the award for the most efficient use of space. That place is chock-full of tackle and not very big.

Bass Pro Shops
Rancho Cucamonga, CA or the one in Vegas.
I know this isnt near SD...but it seems that you travel a lot. It's a hell of a experience to go there.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Always liked Sav-on Tackle in Santa Fe Springs. Used to go there when my pops was still alive but it was always interesting to see the latest in gear!

I wonder how Yo's in Gardena is doing. Did Martin make it through his health issues? I used to go there after the FH Show in Long Beach because they
usually had some great deals on line spooling during the show but the werent doing it AT the show. This was some time ago.
Heck, I probably havent been to A FH show since 2005.

I went to the Fred Hall show today in Long Beach. As usual, it was HUGE and fun. There was a lot of stuff for sale, but this year I practiced some
self restraint. Just kept it to small goodies. I enjoyed cruising and checking out the new stuff. It was a great way to spend the day.

for quite a while, reasons I've heard are Martin's health and the economy.
The west side hasn't been kind to the tackle biz, Art's, Yo's, Purfield's, and Bob's all closed.

Si, Angler's Choice - ask when they have their parking lot sale.
Also Day at The Docs is April 15th this year (held at Point Loma Sportfishing area). Gear there as well.

Scheels Outdoors
Maybe you have bought tackle at one of these stores? This is a up-and-coming sports store chain I have watched grow
since I was a kid in rural North Dakota. ... 'Scheels'
Started out as a small country store in a village of about 200 souls and has since spread around the midwest and western states. Honest prices and
customer satisfaction helped this outfit.

The store in Fargo, ND is a biggy.. almost 200,000 sq ft, loaded with outdoor items of every description...plus has an inside Ferris wheel and archery
range to try out your bow/arrow choices.

Way to go, Fred.

Miguel y Claudia's La Tienda in Mulege has a small but select assortment of lures, hooks, etc that will be of use to anyone fishing
the Mulege waters.
The front counter is filled with tackle that works for this area.
Like whistler says..Support your local economy.

In this photo a cute customer is asking Miguel what lure to use for pompano?
He advises.."Try waving your bikini."

I used to like Fishermans Hardware in Long Beach, of course it didn't hurt that it was next door to Joe Jost's.
Charkbait is great, just don't try and order any Shimano.

I think that is my friend "T" who lives along the river in Mulege! She is a very sweet person! Her and her husband Bob live there during the cooler
months. And, Bob loves to fish!
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.
