Crossed Thursday

Hope to have a uneventful trip north tomorrow and cross at San Ysidro around 3pm (or earlier). Any news or advise?

Keep some pesos so that you can buy Churros, fruit cups, shrimp c-cktails, fried potato chips, and ice cream at the border. Sure helps the time go faster.

Next time I think I will take my old beater car and when some SOB tries to cut in front of me, I will edge him out. We had a real aggressive guy who kept cutting whenever someone got a little lax in the line but we managed to cross about 5 car lengths ahead of him by staying in our line. I was sure to wave nice greetings to him as we hit the light ahead of him.

I was towing a boat back several years ago and some buttwipe cut between my boat & tow vehicle - I proceed to move slowly forward and creased the whole side of his car and removed the front bumper - my Baja built boat trailer was unscathed! The guy was peeed and tried to run up to the border agent as I pulled up - this got a very immediate and unfavorable response from the BP folks.
The BP guy says I can pull over & wait once past the checkpoint if I cared to....I didn't.

Usually buy a torta and have plenty of time to eat it. No ill effects yet.

Why not head up to Tecate? It may be a bit out of your way, but I'd rather get a Root Canal than throw myself into the San Ysidro quagmire.

Stay in the lanes closest to the vendor shops. They dump into a quicker moving maze of other
lanes. The lanes on the left are slow as hell.

Brings back memories of an incident that happened in the line-up about ten years ago -

There was a Tijuana local in an old beater car that was very aggresive in cutting the line and moving ahead. To the point of literally forcing his way into small gaps by actually bumping and jamming his car into others' cars. I let him cross in front of me when I saw the bumping going on. Just ahead of me in the next lane was an old rancher in an old pickup, (bits of hay and manure in the back, cattle rack sides, a HEAVY pipe bumper on the front, etc). The kid tried to force his way in front of the rancher but the rancher wasn't going for it. Finally, the kid bumped the rancher's truck and the rancher let him in. The rancher let about five feet of space open up between him and the kid and then SLAMMED the kid's car with the heavy pipe cattleguard on the front of his pickup! The kid piled out of the car ready for a fight. The rancher met him and hit the kid so hard he went down and out on the pavement next to his car. The rancher got back in his truck and somebody else let him into the next lane to get around the now sitting up, but dazed, kid and his car.

I'm leaving Jardine's now to head over at San Ysidro. From GN to here all was good. The only thing that was a little unusual was the amount if cows grazing right on the road from a little past Chapala to a little past El Rosario. Probably about 30 head or so. Some in the really cuving areas you wouldn't expect. Have a good and safe trip!

Russ, ---- came North with Stevie 2 weeks ago. Tecate was so easy. Both of us got pulled into secondary, but still the whole thing only took about 15 minutes. For me, driving the extra hour is better than sitting and the exasperation of the SY border crossing.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

I think I'll try the lane closest to the venders. with this bumper I'm not chalenged by many cut in. But those in front of me aren't always of the NO cut ins frame of mind.

Got to the border today at 3:06 and crossed at 4:12. 1 hour 6 minutes is the fastest I've crossed in a long time. The far right lane definitely moves fastest.

Can you tell me why it is so pleasing to be a jerk (especially inflicting damage) when someone else is rude. or is it just the Ugly American way?

At TJ stay to the right. Don't forget the pee bottle.

Last time for me was Tecate. I was sent to secondary & was still way faster than TJ.
