honda 125
Who knows the rules for buying a moped. I am considering buying a Honda 125 cargo. like the one all the pizza guys are driving everywhere. They are
cheap under 2,000 dlls. Parts are abundant, since so many people ride them.
100+ mpg
What are the rules for license and insurance?
What about taking to the states with a MEX plate?
I will buy it in MEX, Drive it in MEX.
Where would I store it for a few months when not in MEX?
If any 200 pound people have one, will it do 50 or 60mph?
Probably not, but still at 100 mpg sounds like a cheap form of transport.

Gas-powered motorized bikes require insurance and plates in Canada and USA....electric motor scooters most often do not.
Mexico may well be different, but Baja police are starting to crack down on dirt bikes without licenses....in the cities, mostly.

my daughter has a chineese one...perfect
only cost 800usa on craigs list with 400 miles
mc license required in USA
only legal on the streets...
you need a 250 or greater for the freeway

“Moped” means a motor-driven scooter, motor-driven cycle or similar vehicle that is propelled by a small engine which produces not more than 2 gross
brake horsepower, has a displacement of not more than 50 cubic centimeters or produces not more than 1500 watts final output, and is capable of a
maximum speed of not more than 30 miles per hour on a flat surface with not more than 1 percent grade in any direction when the motor is engaged.
NRS 482.069 - Moped Defined | NRS 482.210 - Exemptions from Registration
You must have a Class C or higher driver license to drive a moped or motorized bicycle on a public street. You do not need a Class M license. Mopeds
do not require insurance or vehicle registration. If the moped produces more than 2 gross brake horsepower, or has a displacement of more than 50
cubic centimeters (50 cc), or produces not more than 1500 watts final output, or is capable of exceeding thirty miles per hour (30 mph) on a flat
grade, it is considered a motorcycle and you must have a Class M license, registration and insurance.
Mopeds must have the same safety equipment (lights, mirrors, etc.) as a motorcycle in order to be driven on any public street. See the Motorcycle
Equipment Tip Sheet. Other vehicles with a small engine are considered off-road motor vehicles and may not be operated on public streets.

I am asking about buying and riding in Baja. A 125 Honda cargo is the moped in question. I do not request info on Canada or .... ..
I want to know about license plates, and insurance, in Baja.
Can a non Mexican person own and operate a Honda 125 cargo in Mexico? Is the license plate valid all over or only in the state of issue? Is
insurance required? Is insurance expensive?
I want to apologize for not clearly stating my question the first time.
I feel like I have typed my request incorrectly and caused people to waste their time writing unwanted and unnecessary answers. I hope my poor
question asking skills don't cause people to abandon this thread before some one with the requested knowledge types in the answer.

I have no information on what you ask, but do feel the need to clarify the point that Bajaguy was getting at: your use of the word "moped" while
describing a 125 Honda. My understanding is that a moped is considered to be any motor-driven two-wheeler with an engine under 50cc. A 125 Honda would
be a "motorcycle" by most legal definitions.
There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

I dont know about the rest of Baja, but here in Mulege you see everything in the way of transport. I dont think anyone has any special licence or
insurance. I use my my Honda 4wheeler for 99% of my in town errands. Since 12/21 I have put only 321 miles on my truck. BUT I never take it on the
hiway. Several folks have been stopped and warned while doing that. If you talking about using it that way, I would make sure it was licenced and
insured......

I have a 1973 honda tl125 and i weight 200lbs. And drive it daily. 50mph is doable depending on the gearing. As stated, in mulege, no lic or insurance
is required. The cops request that you wear a helment, but this is not enforced. I feel that the 125 is too small for highway use, but great for the
dirt roads. I only get 75 mpg :-P
