Going To San Felipe, need info.

I know a few of you live in San Felipe, or other people that Know the Place well, I would really like to hear from you.

Me and the wife want to go over to San Felipe soon, but don't want to go when Spring Breakers are there and want to go before it gets too Hot! over there.

So could you please! give me some information on the above, and a couple of reasonable Hotels to stay a few days.

Thanks so kindly for your info.

What do you want to do? What do you like to do? Beach in front of town may be trashy, a drive south will be great to see more... Road is paved.

Rancho (Laguna) Percebu is about at Km. 20 and 2 good graded dirt miles east, which is 17 miles from downtown SF (Km. 0 is 5 miles south of town, where you turn off the airport road for Puertecitos/ Gonzaga Bay, etc.) ... do you have a 4WD and want to explore the area... or just do the tourist thing in town?

Percebu is opposite the the north point of Shell Island, if you want to do some beach combing... walk across the empty lagoon entrance at low tide, from Percebu (camping, food, vacation homes rented out)

Looking across the lagoon (at high tide) to Percebu:

After this week, there will be no great number
of tourists in SF, I've been there May 5 and got
surprized by 105 degrees. Up until mid May it should
not be too Hot, historically. You mentioned Motels
as opposed to camping, so here are a few, I would not
bother with reservations. These are downtown, on or near
the Malecon. On the beach, with pool, bar, resort type
the most expensive is the Cortez Motel, maybe $85 +,
El Capitian maybe $45, $45 would be about the least,
Red Lobster Rest. has rooms alongside, Costa Azul
is on the beach. Take a look at a few places BEFORE
you select. You don't get much for your $ at SF Motels,
contrary to what was posted, there will not be trash
in SF, the Santa Semana visitors will be gone, the beach
will be clean. Restaurants El Nido, Baja Mar, Miramar Bar
for a cerveza

Run south! Get pass ...say...marker 28ish...and the beaches are great. Small store and such around marker 35.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Since you mention in your post that you want to stay at a hotel, and you said you want to go to San Felipe, then here is what to do.

Stay at the El Cortez motel in San Felipe. It is old but very clean and has great food and drink at the bar and or the restaurant.

You will be just south of the town center where there are many restaurants, bars and places to shop.

After you have been to San Felipe a few times and you want to do some exploring, then you can go further south to camp and explore.

If you want to u2u me I can recommend some rentals that are in our neighborhood that you may like as well

I agree with Cortez Blue if you want to stay in town... The El Cortez has been in business since the 60's!

I you want to stay in town I agree with all the above. For near the same price you can rent a house in El Dorado Ranch. Fairly reasonable these days and gated. Depends how comfortable you are in Mexico. You can drive out from there and explore for your next visit. Have fun! Nancy

I stayed at the Playa Bonita condos in San Felipe a few years ago and it was really nice, right on the beach, close to town (reasonable walking distance). We took our bikes and rode them to downtown.

Two story condos; ask for the one one the end facing the beach. Washer/dry was available (coin operated, if I recall).
