Do I need to convert my Kenmore gas dryer from the US?

Hi. We brought down our Kenmore washer and dryer from the US. The dryer is already set up for LP gas, but it isn't working correctly here (smells funny and doesn't get hot). We tried changing the orifice to the one for butane, but are getting the same problem. Do any of you wonderful nomads have any ideas? If not, does anyone think the Sears in La Paz would be of any help? (We are in Pescadero.)

Possible causes.

Oil from butane (less likely)

Burner air register adjustment jiggled closed during transport

11" water column reg is insufficient capacity

Burner or manifold got knocked askew

Examine flame. Should be blue with few transient yellow flicker in tips.

Professional LPG techs that work on gas grills and ovens would be way better than Sears. Ask for: Taller para quemadores de gas

it comes from the factory set up for natural gas...

you need to buy a propane conversion kit

about 80 bucks

it just screws on...susan did it

dont assume its ready to go if it comes from the states

Try and see if you can download the instructions for the propane kit. You probably need to make a change to the regulator as well as changing the orifice.

Bob- if he is correct stating LP then it should be jetted for LP already.
but if it was a factory N gas maybe he's seeing that it can be used with both - still means a mod.
i just went thru it on a spa htr i converted from N to LP, parts incl new jets and a regulator plus USA req'd labels.
i had a pool pro do it so i wouldn't blow up the neighborhood.:lol::lol:

Excellent advice!!

The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.
