Cruelty to animals laws in Mexico

Ensenada.net does have some good information. This morning, the headlines talked about a man killing a dog with a baseball bat because it threatened
him. The article of course was written in Spanish, and I have attached the link so you can read it, or Google translate it. This article is a new
twist on the Zimmerman case in the US, only it involves animals in Mexico. There is in fact a law in Mexico that states that you can only kill an
animal if there is imminent danger to the person, but you should exhaust your options with law enforcement first. In other words, just like the
Zimmerman case, Mr. Zimmerman was advised to call the police and not take justice in his own hands. In this case, the animal activists argue that the
person who killed the dog with a baseball bat "in self defense" should have called the police. But as we know, the police might have taken a long
time to respond. It is a case of another person taking justice in his own hands.

I remember a reference as to some Gringo opinion
of the not so lofty place animals in Mex may hold,
that mistreatment of them is common in Mex. This Gringo
was offended as to their treatment in Mex. The
Mexican's response was he was equally offended
as to how, in his view, that US Gringos mistreat their
children, with verbal, physical mistreatment

The facts

I just want to clarify a point. Someone on the Punta Banda Bulletin Board jumped all over me today, saying that I was against Zimmerman, etc. etc. I
quoted the animal activist group as saying that the person should have called the police first. I did not say it. I am just throwing ideas out there
for thought and I get crucified for doing it. | Quote: | Originally posted by sancho

Some posts, the authors meaning doesn't get
across as intended. Readers read into it what they
want. Regualr posters on these boards LONG ago
gave up being offended by responses. It's part
of the game. It's better not to take it personally,
most here get a thick skin in time . Take DK, for some
reason he gets a lotta flack, I think he revels in it,
he eats it up. I like that. As for the Florida case,
doesn't seem they have enough evidence for conviction | |

You always speak up front ...and with the truth in place. I wouldn't worry too much about what some trolls say........I myself never debate with
idiots

We are great animal lovers too. Have five dogs....five horses brought in from the local rescue.....few pot belly pigs.

Beating animals to near death .....or death itself.....is pure BS. There is no need to do so, in most cases. Dogs will simply run off with a
threat.....in most cases. I said MOST CASES in case your trolls out there are thinking about a debate. :-)

I see abuse of animals in Mexico. I see abuse of animals in the US. Go to many "Animal Shelters" in the US.....and see the kills they do. Some
shelter!

Dr., if you are referring to me as "Jumping" all over you on the PB community board then I guess it was me and I was not jumping. I pointed out in my
PB post that we have to wait and see once all the evidence is in if Zimmerman was right in defending himself. I did not in any way discount your view
other than you rushed to judgement by saying Zimmerman should have been arrested right away. How do we know Janene what took place. I certainly do not
but your rush to judgement has been noted and it was wrong. You also sent me some personal emails that were out of right field and that was why I
called you a burros behind. Any district attorney worth his weight would ponder over the evidence and make a clear unbiased decision to arrest in any
criminal matter however it was clear that you had already made your mind up once you heard the story from the press. Yep, I believe EVERYTHING I hear
from the press (ya Right). I also mentioned that President Obama opened his mouth with his racists opinion about this case. Do you really think that
if the teenager was white Obama would have spoken up? Just goes to show you his racists views. if Zimmerman is found not guilty there will be riots in
every big city in the United States and these riots will be big time for sure. I added that in my PB post as well and I received a lot of hate mail
because I expressed MY views. It was obvious that you thought I made you look bad in my initial post and that was not my intent. My reason for posting
was to allow people to view and educate themselves with all the evidence first then make a decision but right now in the murder case we all know
nothing other than what is fed to us through the media and if you believe them then it's ok to live in your fantasy land.

I work on many murder investigations Janene and I NEVER open an investigation with nothing more than an open mind. I believe you should go back and
read the internet news account of the dog that was beaten to death. I believe you got that all wrong and trying to twist this story with what
Zimmerman did was way off base. My only intent for all my posts related to your comments was to have an "OPEN MIND".

My take on the story...

When I read the story, I was merely comparing people taking justice in their own hands, be it in self-defense or otherwise, whether it be against a
person or animal. The story in Ensenada Net was quoting animal cruelty laws in Mexico, and self defense. It seemed to me that the writers were trying
to communicate the fact that the man had the right to protect himself from imminent danger, so the law enforcement agency wasn't going to pursue
prosecution of the man who beat the dog to death with a bat, even though the animal advocate agencies felt they should. I do not claim to be an
expert in law enforcement, I was just stating what was my observation. I could be wrong about my interpretation of the article. I just wanted to
throw the story out there for comment. I wasn't there in Florida and I wasn't there when the man was there beating the dog to death. So how can I
claim what should have been done? I only go by what has been presented to me. | Quote: | Originally posted by lizard lips

I would HOPE ............

That there is NO thought of comparing the Zimmerman case with the Battering Man.

After all, Martin was NOT a Dog.

Although his behavior "may" have been Rabid.

Time will tell.

Besides, there can be no comparison because Skittles were not involved on either side in the latter.

I've been going to Baja since 1965 and have seen animals treated badly in public even by children. In my working life I traveled all over the World
and Mexico had some of the worst examples of animal treatment. I love Baja but can only report my experience. We have hauled street Baja dogs back to
the US and they turned out to be happy little guys. Latest was last June...
