Flights

Hi all. Another question. What airlines fly into Loreto? Any recommendations on most dependable? Thanks much!

Sorry for the annoying question. Something a simple Google search should resolve. But, the best I'm finding is Alaska Air might fly into Loreto. Problem is compounded because I'm flying Saigon to Loreto, not the most intuitive route. Any suggestions appreciated!

S,

Alaska Air is the major carrier I use. Typically, I depart from San Jose, Ca. and pick up a connecting flight from Los Angeles direct to Loreto. Plan well in advance and check prices of flights on various week days and you may save a few pesos.

Try kayak.com, and eliminate the concurrent searches on expedia and orbitz to keep your screen clear.

SGN to LAX on American is about $590, 24 hours with an 8 hour layover in Tokyo.
Then you can see how much it is to LTO from LAX.

It's fun to check out these bizarre trips...

Excellent. Sounds like LAX is the key routing point. Thanks for the insights!

Hah! So much for being simple!

Your flight gets in to LAX at 950 AM

The only flight to LTO leaves at 10AM

Probably you could fly to SJD (Los Cabos) from LAX and rent a car...I noticed they are CHEAP for a week on like May 22. Even throwing in the optional collision insurance and taxes, it's less than $150 for a week.

That's on carrentals.com

These flights are coming in on Saturdays only...

Now THAT would work, tijereta!

Gives skeeter over 2 hours to make the connection to LTO from LAX.

AA has the exact same flight from SGN to LAX leaving Fridays and landing 950 AM Saturdays.

Again, thanks to all for the insights. I suspect Cal Jet doesn't work as I need to be in Loreto no later than Friday night. Saw another airline - Aereo Calafia - but can't make sense of the info on their website. Most likely Alaska Air as they're probably reliable and I have work that must be completed between a Friday and Sunday evening. Probably time to pay a travel agent to solve the problem.

Do they let you call it Saigon? I thought the communists will only recognize 'Ho Chi Minh City'? Just asking... thanks!

People use both HCMC and Saigon. Lot of store front signage using Saigon. Matter of indifference I think except for official stuff. And, place is pretty much following the same model and pattern as mainland China.

Thanks for that!

So, like China, they need to use capitalism to survive as communism/ socialism fails... Too bad some in our country can't realize that!

Have a great trip when you come over...:light:

Aereo Califia is a small Mexican carrier. flights to/from Loreto include La Paz, Hermosillo, Guaymas and other small totally inaccessible to you cities.
try flying to Mexico City, then to La Paz or Cabo on AeroMexico or VivaAerobus, then to Loreto on Aero Califia, if the schedules line up (good luck on that) or just bus up from La Paz when you get there.
otherwise it's Alaska/Horizon from LAX.

reality\'s never been of much use out here...
