Well My New NOOK Just Died :-(
Bought it in February hoping to forever fore go the eternal runaround raiding mouldering trade-in paperback libraries. I chose NOOK over KINDLE for I
guess a really dumb reason: The battery in the NOOK is changeable in the field. The KINDLE must be sent back to the factory.
Symptoms: The unit doesn't care which buttons are pushed or how many dozens of times one swipes their finger across the screen. It somehow has taken a
huge dose of OWSLEY electronic LSD and does what it wants, sometimes strobing through four or five totally different events - Wi-Fi to Purchase to
Battery Fill to the novel I wasn't reading.
Yeah, La Paz 500 miles to the south and Ensenada 350 miles to the north. This leaves Servício Corréos de México as the only alternative. The last five
books I tried ordering off Amazon dot Com four years ago never made it to Michoacan. Five books, five orders, over a year's time.
Am I doomed to re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-read whatever I can find around here?
The gizmo cost me 99 bucks + tax at a Barnes & Noble. They do not have MexPost around these parts. I am at a loss as to what to do. Does servicio
correos offer seguro? Do they cough up recompense in case of loss or damage?

I'm sorry David. I left a few things worth reading in Shari's library at the Campo. My taste runs to the non-fiction, and most of the swap and share
libraries in Baja seem to run long on popular novels. My intention is to cull my shelves before next trip and share more. I'm afraid I still have

You mention La Paz and Bahia Asuncion, all BCS, perhaps there are U.S. mailbox services there.
Here in Baja Norte - Rosarito and also, I believe, Ensenada, have mailbox services that deposit mail across the border at a U.S. post office.

Why did I buy a Kindle?
When I balanced Nook against Kindle the decision was easy- it really was Barnes/Noble vs. Amazon.
I had no favorite, but I knew Amazon is around for the long haul, would likely stand behind product, and had the greatest array of things available
for the right price.
Now, fast forward to six weeks back in Bahia de LA.
Left my Kindle sitting on my folding chair, went to fetch a Pacifico, strong gust of wind (gee, winds in LABAY???) blew over the chair and I found Mr.
Kindle face down in the sand. Picked it up and it still worked...... for a full 30 minutes, then it went bonkers, never to yield a readable screen
again.
Got back to this Northern world, called the Amazon Kindle dude, explained what happened - well, sort of a sanitized version, but did not deny dropping
it- and 36 hours later there was a brand new Kindle in my mail box, no charge, all my library loaded and ready to go.
B/N may do just as well, but will they be around in a few years? Don't know, hope so, not going to bet on it,
I am pretty sure Amazon will be here, and that service was simply incomparable.
I know that does not help your situation, but wanted to toss in my Kindle/Baja story.

I wouldn't trust the mail but like Vgbundo says...there are hundreds of books in the campground library next door to you...it's a real eclectic
collection so I'm sure you can find something in there David!!! screw technology
