Loreto Malecon / Launch Ramp
Any new information on the construction progress of the malecon in Loreto. With Fishing for the Mission just around the corner, will it be done?

I miss IflyfishPam. She'd tell us straight. During an election year you'd think there would be some major noise.

The Loreto malecon project that started shortly after the first of the year has been stalled for the past month or two with the marina parking lot
closed, along with both lanes from the lighthouse south to Juarez. Since the beginning it has been one step forward, and two back, with curbs and
block planters built one day and torn out the next. Access to the launch ramp for pangas and small gringo boats has been maintained, but it is not
always easy, and it's a good idea to do reconnaissance the evening before you plan to fish the next day. Today you can get to the ramp on the malecon
from the north or east past the Captain of the Port's office, but with parking at a premium there is only one lane for traffic on the latter and it's
first come first served.
I suppose it's possible that the work will be done in 6 - 8 weeks, but based on progress to date that seems unlikely.
I wouldn't be surprised if many gringos who usually tow their boats down for the summer tournaments decide to sit it out this year.
Here are some pics of the malecon/ramp area taken this morning, June 12:

Siempre asi!
I can't understand why they do this at the start of fishing season. You'd think that revenue brought in by tourist would be an incentive to do it
some other time of the year.
Thanks for the update and other info Bill.
