Can Someone Check DHL or FedEx In BCS For Me?

Probably best done by someone in La Paz or Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo...

My stupid hearing does not permit me to hear conversations on a cellular correctly. I am trying to get a hold of a Mexico branch of FedEx or DHL.

I want to ask them a question: It is simple. Are made in USA articles allowed entry into Mexico duty-free if under $50.00 in declared value as indicated on the sales receipt?

In other words, if a permitted article has an official receipt accompanying it that totals less than fifty dollars, will there yes or will there no, not be Aduana tax added onto the shipment?

For 10 years I was able to ship stuff to me all over Mexico, duty free under NAFTA if declared value with receipt totaled under fifty dollars.

Now a shipping company wants to add 65% tax to the same items from the same company in the same city for the same amount of declared value.

There is NO option on their web page for such declarations. The 65% tax is added no matter what. Sixty five percent?

Mil Gracias!

I no longer get things from FedEx or DHL from the states as the duty ended up being more than the cost of the item...sheesh.

Allowable items under NAFTA, those made in the USA or Canada, with an official FOB price of $49.99 or less are supposed to be duty-free.

Have the same problem with my hearing. It certainly is a handicap. I try to have others call for me.

The solution seems to be to ship out of TJ. My Grandson's nanny was having the same problem shipping things home to Tapachula from NOB. Now she has someone drop them at DHL or FEDEX in TJ and there is no charge.

Thank you! But no offices within 700 km :-(

But bien sordo? I get to sleep late! No gritos de gallos, hammering, sawing, doors banging, cars rattling, weapon of mass boombox, disturbances, or rather fewer disturbances. Works superbly on time-share salesmen. They say something and I'll answer using a close sounding word they used. It drives 'em freakin' nuts!

I find it quite useful at illegal immigration stops NOB also: "I don't even know your mother and if I did...", well, you understand.

The frustration level in a hearing person is quite low when trying to communicate with a hearing impaired person and I use it to advantage as long as I have to suffer the disadvantages of not being able to hear movies, use a phone...

Neglected to mention in my last post David. I noted that you have electrical and some things needed down there so I made a note to contact you before I come down again.

Generally do NorCal summer and Baja winter so will be in touch probably August as I plan to wander down in September this year. Anything you need I should be able to work into the van.

So, DavidE, did you get the answer you needed in this thread already, or do you still need someone to run out to a DHL office to ask the question?

The answer? I haven't a clue so far if the fifty dollar NAFTA exemption is still in place. But thank you for asking. I sure would like to know because it means more than two hundred dollars in tariffs over a period of time, if I elect to pay it and it isn't necessary. Sent POSTALL two emails with zero result. Not an auspicious introduction. Maybe someone can get them to answer their telephone.

I'll swing by the DHL office today and see what I can find out for you.

Looks like it will take me a bit longer to get that answer, Dave. The DHL office on Abasolo has been moved elsewhere and they don't answer their phone so I haven't been able to locate their new office.

I know they have a distribution center out by the industrial park on the road south, but it will take me just a bit to get out there. Hang in there.
