Looking For Cardiac Medicines in Sta Rosalia

I would sure appreciate it if someone is going to Famacias Similares and ask them if they have the following medicines on the shelf:

Clave: 1848

Sustancia: VERAPAMILO TAB RECUBIERTAS DE LIBERACION PROLONGADA

180 mg. (2 cajas)

**********

Clave: 1759

Sustancia: METOPROLOL SUCCINATO TAB

Concentración: 95 MG (2 cajas)

Note: "Clave" means item number, and item numbers are in their computer right at the front counter. Thank goodness Similares has these two medications. Regular farmacias want four to six times as much for generics. The Metoprolol is imported from Germany.

Diez Mil Gracias!

You can check your meds on this Farmacia Similares web site:

http://www.farmaciasdesimilares.com.mx/productosfarmaciasmex...

Really user friendly if trying to check what is available that you might need.
And the prices . . . incredibly low.

Assuming that you find the meds here in Baja Sur:

Do you have a pharmacy there in Asuncion ? Because, if you do, they can usually order any meds you want. If for some reason you don't have access there, I can order here and use the grapevine to get them to you (the electric board guys come to la bocana on an almost weekly basis). Ana Fischer provides this service for us, she charges extra for it but what a nice option to have when we are so remote !

Come visit La Bocana

Hi Mula,

The info in my post includes farmacias similares' clave which is their stock number. Thank you for responding. Yes their prices are way lower. I have been going to Guerrero Negro to shop and the F.S. outlet there has my medications. But I would dearly love to come to Mulegé and take advantage of what is there including the citrus orchard, way out past the ice house, raid Saul's, and the other tienda's, go to Sta Rosalia and get my meds, of they have them. Many sucursales (branches) of F.S. do not carry everything listed on the website. And the two medications I listed are pricey compared to other more common meds, and Sta Rosalia may not have them. I would hate to have to be forced to turn around and double back a hundred sixty kliks to go to Guerrero Negro if I found out Santa Rosalia did not have them in stock and 2 boxes each. I can't even find a %$#@#$%^!!! colander in Guerrero Negro! I'm tired of burning my hands trying to dump hot water. I can get some stuff at segundas in Mulegé as well, and buy a sack full of bolillos and then freeze them. The mediations that would cost me 400 pesos in Similares, costs a whopping one thousand eight hundred, eighty in Vizcaino. And that's just for two out of the six I need on a maintenance basis. My little car gets almost 30 mpg, so thankfully that won't set me back much. I am also going to stop at the caracol dairy 14 miles east of Vizcaino and pick up several hundred pounds of esterico, manure, for the garden. I think someone in Mulegé also sells vegetable seeds. I want to get cilantro and rábano. Also get some huge cantaloupe to plant the seeds. Cantaloupe is stupidly expensive --- doesn't seem like much per kilo, until the critters are weighed. I ain't eating four dollar cantaloupe. My garden patch on the other side made several dozens of cantaloupe from the seeds from just one half. I love agua fresca de melón. Half a melon, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a toasted bolillo with "Johnny's spread", french roast coffee, and wowee! What a way to start the day!

But my grand plan all falls apart unless I can be sure of getting medicaméntos at Similares in Sta Rosaía.

David,
The main problem with Sta. Rosalia, is there are damn few people around there now to check this out for you and the heat and coming humidity are horrible in S. R and Mulege.

The Vet store on the Ice House road sells seeds. And yes, I usually have much better shopping and prices in Mulege than Loreto. But then I go to Mulege once a month for the Aerormedico clinics, so have a list always ready.

Also, Saul's goes down to nothing in the summer time and be careful what you buy there - watch for expiration dates and damage from the last hurricane a couple of years ago - he sometimes puts old stuff on the shelves in the summer.

I just worry that you have quite a list and lots of stops and the heat is way up there.

Yes, I have no plans to go to Sta. R. and can't find a phone number so you can call 'em.

The dulce de mango isn't happening right yet; that's deep into summer time.

Sorry, I'm batting zero here.

On edit, I do have some freshly harvested seeds for giant sunflowers. I'm keeping several little baggies of 'em in the freezer. Anyone who wants some can give me a head's up if they're heading to town.

The local Lopressor is quoted as being 466 pesos per box of 10. About five times higher than Similares and they would have to order it. They cannot get the other medicines very easily. But I can just give it a shrug and go to Guerrero Negro. I've got to ferret out a coffee grinder somewhere, a colander and hopefully more stuff for my salad.
