CURP
When I got my first fm2 it included a CURP number. My recent fm2 did not include a CURP number.
The person at immigration explained that the first fm2 gave me my CURP number. I asked where I could obrain my number but the immigration officer did
not know where to send me.
So informed Nomads, where do I go to obtain my CURP?
And, while your at it, where do I obtain my senior card?

Well, it depends a lot on where you are. I can give you the information for Santa Rosalia but that won't help much if you are in another part of the
peninsula.
Turns out Immigration did not actually register you with the CURP but just put the next number in the computer that came up. It was not a valid CURP
number. We go to the civil registry office and they will issue. The Senior card is usually in the DIF office for your municipality.

CURPS are available online. Once your name is in the system it is obtainable. Let me hunt for the site to go to so you can print it up.

You can enter the CURP in the first part, if you know the number. Then print.
Or, if you don't know the number, fill out all the parts of the second or lower portion. I just did it as an experiment and my name and number came up
perfectly !

However, if you've never been issued a CURP number you need to apply at a civil registry office as Pescador says. Does every town have one, a civil
registry that is?
What are the advantages to having a CURP, btw?

you will need a curp to get any type of document here in Mexico, including your citizenship papers.

Pescador, the number immigration issued me is now my permanent number....
bacquito - where are you located ? your local police staton can give you the information on where to get senior card (if you are in a small village
like we are, all paperwork is done through the police station and/or people from Mulege and Santa Rosalia who come to visit just for this purpose).

Thanks Blanka, I tried it without knowing my CURP and it did not work.

While we're on this....what is the Spanish term for "senior card"?
As for the CURP, it means "Clave Unica de Registro de Poblacion".

Glad that worked for you, when I went to get Seguro Popular, I could not register with the CURP number that I had on my FM2 and when I asked at the
Immigration office, they said they just put a number in there. Now they send you over to the office in the plaza to get an actual CURP number. I
also needed one before they would sell me a cell phone.

Even if you have a CURP, the search is quite hard to use, as it's very specific.

Put your last name in "Primer apellido", first name AND all middle names in "Nombre(s)" (first name alone is not enough, unless that's how you were
recorded).
Plus, "Entidad Federativa" is "Nacido en el Extranjero" (the last entry), since it's where you were born, not the Mexican state you now live in - took
me a while to realise this!

Interesting CURP Info
As I was looking at my INAPAM - Instituto Nacional de las Personas Adultas Mayores - card (the famous senior discount card), I noticed that the back
side of the INAPAM card is my CURP card........they are both laminated back-to-back!!!!!!!!
