At that time, it will take 6 minutes at Tecate.

if by "early" you mean 5AM, no longer than 1-2-3 hours.

Hit this link, and you will see the many crossings along both our Northern and Southern borders.
http://traffic.calit2.net/border/border-crossing-wait-times-...
A line graph shows the duration one would theoretically wait in their automobile - or in the Pedestrian lanes.

Crossing the border is like timing stock buying and selling. As soon as you think you know what you are doing, everything goes to hell in a hand
basket.
It depends on where you are coming and going. We live in Fenix and everyone in AZ goes to Rocky Point, but we bought in San Felipe because of the
time to cross and the lack of SENTRI.
From San Felipe there are several crossing points going north and east. and 3 of the 4 locations have SENTRI.
Plan for a long wait and party if you are wrong

The "Best Time to Cross the Border" website was updated fairly recently. Now, it includes the nexus/sentri and ready lanes.

That "Best Time to Cross the Border" so far for me has been inaccurate just as the radio station and TV challens are. I have been at the SY border
when PBS radio announced it was 2 hours border crossing time and I had already been there 2 hours and 30 minutes so don't plan your schedule around
those border crossing times otherwise you might be DISAPPOINTED.

Our hotel rooms in San Quintin were mistakenly given away last Saturday night on our way north; so we kept driving. We couldn't find anyplace else to
stay (everything was sold out, and I mean everything) and we found ourselves at the San Ysidro border at 2:30AM; took us 45 minutes to cross. I
thought it would be pretty empty, but to my surprise it was busy, even at that hour.

I know many of you do not believe in prayer.
For those of us that do, here is the prayer I always utter on approaching the line.
"Lord, make my patience longer than the wait."
That about sums it up...
by the way,
those prayers have never shortened the waiting period, alas.
