Hurricane Insure not valid w/i 500m of Sea?

Still working on the house uinsurance issue. I was told by Bob Jankovics, Bob Jankovics Insurance Agency in Cabo that by Mexican law no properties within 500m of the ocean are covered by Mexican hurricane insurance and I'm wasting my time if I but it coz a claim will not be honored. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for your help

Amigo, ever since Hurricane John and Jimena, etc I have been unable to afford Hurricane insurance! They advise me to include outdoor valuables like Sat dishes, pergolas, etc. The new big question IIS asks is how close do I live to the beach?! Why? I don't really know the answer to your question as I only buy fire, theft, siesmic---basic insurance. I'll talk with Arandi Torres in the next week. Stay in touch. Tio

You may want to speak with Elela Bretts. My policy specifically states my home is less than 50m from the fed zone and I pay an addition fee for it.

I just went through the process of getting hurricane insurance, and tho my place is more than 500 m from the sea....I can tell you that all of the applications ask distance from the sea...so I think you would get your answer pretty quick when applying.

A word on mexico home insurance...don't expect much of a payout. Many longtime expats choose to go without insurance and self insure, after a tussle or 2 with an insurance company it becomes apparent that you've been throwing away money, as the insurance companies seldom come through on much of a payout, you may get something, but no were near close to the cost of the actual damage.
