good charitable organizations in baja?
I usually try to seek out and leave a donation with reputable charities when I travel. Anything you can vouch for in Baja? I know some of y'all
organize fundraisers and such.
I'd be looking for social programs mainly. Nson-religious affiliations preferred but not mandatory.
A name and location would be handy. If I am passing through I'll share some of my beer fund with them.

The East Cape Guild provides scholarships for qualifying students to attend high school. The students must pay for their own tuition, bus
transportation, uniforms, etc after the 9th grade.
The East Cape Guild covers the cost of tuition and bus transportation for each student that qualifies annually.
The East Cape Guild was founded in 1997, and has funded over 1000 scholarships since then.
The East Cape areas involved are Las Casitas, Caduano, Miraflores, Santiago, La Ribera, Santa Cruz, Las Cuevas, Campamento, BuenaVista, Los Barriles,
El Cardonal, San Bartolo, San Antonio, El Triunfo and all the ranches near these towns.

doesn't get much better than this...beds for kids. two people in La Paz that I can vouch for, providing mattresses for folks in poor barrios. you
should see how happy the recipients are to receive even a used mattress. about 300 pesos provides someone a place to sleep off the (often) mud floor.

Seconding bajaguy's nomination of Agua Viva. Yes, my ego is involved due to our work at Golf4Ninos.
They adopt children and put them through school. They also feed a load of other locals(>100 meal/day). Yes, they has religious affiliation,
though that is not my thing.
One of their children, Karla Carmona, is now in med school at UABC. She donated her day at 2012 Golf4Ninos giving free blood pressure tests for the
golfers.
Donate button at Golf4Ninos works 365 days/year. Or find Agua Viva on the Ensenada Interactive Map, approx 1.5 miles west of Maneadero, or 2 miles directly east of Jr's Burgers/Punta Banda and visit with your
donation, clothing, household items or food. Jon and Arlene will be happy to see you.

The La Balandra Rotary Club of La Paz has sponsored a Prosthetic and Orthotic clinic for the past 8 1/2 years. We go to La Paz twice a year to hold
clinics and provide artificial limbs and orthopedic braces. The clinics last at least two weeks and are held in the spring and fall. Through the
various Rotary Clubs of Mexico we have fabricated and fit patients from all over Baja California (norte and sur) as well as mainland Mexico. Tax
deductable donations can be made to:

They will send a letter of acknowledgement for tax purposes. 100% of these donations go directly to the clinic for buying supplies and parts. Most
of the component parts we use are recycled from old artificial legs and arms as well as orthopedic braces, but many of our supplies cannot be recycled
- such as resin, glue, pigments, rivets, leather, carbon graphite/fiberglass/nylon stockinette, etc. Thank you for your consideration.
