ULTRA LOW SULPHER DIESEL
I am headed to baja in two weeks and would sure like to drive my new truck but only if ULSD (ultra low sulpher diesel) is available.
Does anyone have conclusive evidence that it is being sold in Baja yet?
Thanks Nomads!

I viewed the earlier posts on ULSD but wondered if there was any additional info-
Wasn't someone going to get the fuel tested?

Testing
Somebody was, and I have 14 gallons sitting in my driveway in a metal tank in San Diego if anybody wants to test some.
I took my new 2008 F-250 down to Bola three weeks ago and had no problems with the deisel- was it/ is it low sulphur ? still waiting for the absolute
answer on that one.

If your just going for a week or two, I wouldn't sweat it.
Bob is our canaria en un mina de carbon; our cerdo de Guinea. That's the best proof we have, in the absence of a test. Of course, it might only be
proof that higher sulphur diesel doesnt result in immediate consequences.
There is NO definitive answer on what type of diesel, from station to station. Even the Pemex sources admit it's introduction is spotty.

My Jeep Liberty ran perfectly on Mex diesel for 2 weeks and about 2500 miles. The best thing about diesel is no lines at the pump.

From the pages of the Vagabundos newsletter, Chubasco..........
A member wrote directly to one Guillermo Villa Montano who works for Pemex and he contacted an unnamed western sale representative for Pemex. He
states, "We only have ULSD in these areas: Rosarito, Mexicali, Nogales and Ensenada. The correspondence was dated August 1, 2007.
At least according to this correspondence, no ULSD exists outside of the immediate border area which has me wondering if it is even refined by Pemex
or whether it is being imported from US refineries. There has been some indication in the past that Pemex has imported refined gasoline from the US
for use in proximity to the border.

I think Baja Cactus posted the same information but said that these are the terminals that have the ULSD. And it is being distributed to all stations
within their areas.

Would you happen to know when they are going to re-tool that truck? A complete body and frame change?
We looked at new F 350's last weekend, they're the same as our 99' except for some doo-dads on the dash and the front suspension.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Why mess with a good thing? Who makes a stronger truck? Nice roomy cab, too. Some manufacturers make changes just for the sake of marketing. Ford has
a good cab and chassis........it's the rest of it we worry about.
I had the misfortune of riding shotgun in a newer Tacoma for about 2 hours recently and let's just say it's not meant for anyone over 5-8 or 175
lbs..........which I am both.
BTW, the front suspension change is not something to be discounted lightly. I know.......I have the old style with leafs up front.
What I wouldnt give for coils on my 2000 F350.........

You probably didn't mean that literally, but there are kits to convert your truck to coils. Check skyjacker.com for one.

If I was looking to buy a new diesel truck, I would have to look long and hard at the Dodge, like bob and susan recommend.
thanks, roberto. I do mean it literally, well, until I see the pricing. Took my Lance off for the first time since before summer and even with the
tires at 60psi, the bladder is taking a pounding on the way to work.
