Best damn hamburger in San Felipe (perhaps entire Baja too).
I NEVER so much as glance at the so called "hamburger and hotdog" stands in Baja. The vendors simple on the most part....don't have a clue about the
preparation of a American hamburger.
So I was doing business in San Felipe last week for a few days....and was showing a client a business interest......when I drove pass this "hamburger
stand". Rinky-dink and hidden on the side of a market, I took notice that an American was tending the grill, and his wife was in charge of the
counter.
Talking out of my truck's window.....I jokingly asked if the burgers were decent. ........and I got a response back in an deep Texas accent.
Okay.....I got baited....... and I took the hook.
Best damn burger in Baja! In fact.......it became one of my best top five burgers that I have ever had. I asked him why the meat was so good.....he
explained to us that the beef was specially formulated for him.......using "the fat from the heart area" of the animal. He picks up the meat from S.
Ca.
Great sauce. Great cheese. Good french fries. Great service. A big menu of various burgers and other "American " fast food items.
All this.........from two folks that were in their mid seventies!!!!!!
Where? Once you have arrived to the northern part of San Felipe, slow down when you pass "POPS" Campo (that's on your left). Proceed a few thousand
feet and there be a market (that's on your left)......pull in and head to the right side of the market's building. There is NO sign off the Mex 5
highway.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

The best burgers, hands down, in all of Baja are served up by Dave and Yvonne south of BOLA. We can now end this thread.

Tbone......where in town is it? I'll be there soon for a vacation at Daggerts.
Okay.......shoot me bajaguy! I had no camera this run...it was business only. I did take notes and those notes are somewhere off Ca 99 ....for I lost
my wallet on the way home!
The buns......all I can say they were NOT from a Mexican bakery. Size of a McDonalds big mac bun....very soft, yet not spongy. Had taste!!!!
Looked like a thousand island sauce.......not tangy but rather a LITTLE sweet. Perfect blend however they made it. Pickles and all the trimmings too.
Napkins used _ 6 units
A very good indicator of a good sloppy burger!!!!!
French fries comparable to what one would get at Denny's. Cooked well though. American ketchup on the table.
Standard soda in a can. Looked like American bought. I just wish that had Mexican coke in a bottle. Think I will tell then that next month...
Didn't take note if they had beer...I don't consume alcohol.

I haven't tried this place next to Andreis'(sp) store, but I've heard the hamburgers are great and the french fries are to die for.

PS - It's located at about KM180 on the east side of Hwy5. Don't make me swear to the KM number though, I'm not sure.

2) McFez' burger place is at Km. 181 (which you can plainly see on the sign, left edge of his photo off Google Earth Street View)
Thank's Deno...

It's mighty easy to fire-up a burger. Put the patty on the grill/skillet. A decent patty, a nice bun, throw in all the veggies/cheese that will fit in
between. You've got a meal.

Hey McBurger
I was down in SF a few weekends ago and was have a few beers at Pete's Camp and ran into Buckaroo Bil or Bobl. He told us about his hamburgers and
told us to come down for a burger. So Saturaday afternoon we hopped in the truck and went down. Only to find a sign closed Sat and Sun? What's with
that. We are going down for a big fiesta and the shrimp festival Nov 1 and we will try to shoot for a burger on Friday.

I agree. Isn't one of the reasons for traveling to Baja, to do as the Bajardians do?? i.e. eat tacos and drink skunky beer, or do we buy American beer
as well ????

You two ...I love your retorts :-)
So....neither of your ever buy Coke Cola.......that American stuff.
Perhaps both of you dont buy gasoline....most of that BTW is not from Mexico..... the country has to import refined petroleum products, mainly from
the USA. ......that American stuff.
In fact...I bet neither of you have never taken any sort of food stuff in those ice chests that you carry into Baja. ......that American stuff.
How bout those meds too for your health issues? ......that American stuff.
Did you get the Medical Evacuation insurance? I bet you did along with buying that car insurance from an American outlet. ......that American stuff.
Please....retort with some of believable content next time :-) Don't be so glorious on your high horses........the fall is painful from up there.
