Mexican Revolution Day 2012

Each year I ask and each year I get mixed results. We are making our annual trek to Playa San Rafael on Saturday, Nov. 17. For the past few years, we get the pleasure of watching numerous parades along the way as they all start at different times.

This year, the holiday falls on Tuesday. Does anyone know definitively if the parades will be held on Saturday again this year? They are great to watch but make for a long day of driving as Hwy 1 is closed completely.

Thanks in advance.

Zac

I thought it was Nov. 18th. Thats why we were leaving on the 17th. We were caught in that once. Really don't want to again.

Anyone know for sure what day the parades are?

My experience here in the schools is that the directors get together with the delgado and they agree on the day since the police are involved in protecting the paraders.

so, I think every town might be different ? or perhaps all the delegados have agreed on a date ? I bet Shari from Asuncion can shed more light on this.

I'm betting that the parades will be on Saturday. Each year I ask and no one seems to know. Last year we managed to only get caught by a few.

I might just try leaving earlier this year.

The holiday is always on the 20th yes but we're asking about the parades. Last three years, they've happened on the Saturday.

The waitress said that it is celebrated, with parade and all, on the 20th, regardless of what day it falls. Personal experience? I have no idea.

I am serious; I was just trying to help out. When I asked the waitress, the owner of the place and other patrons agreed with the waitress.

I believe the waitress is right. Some celebrations move to the nearest Monday but this one stays on Nov. 20.

Okay, that is for Ensenada...the problem is with the towns on Hwy 1 between Santo Tomas and El Rosario.

We're planning on just getting an early start...
