camping spots
Can anyone tell me how far apart I should xpect to find rv parking on the way to Mulege crom Ensenada? Or if it is considered safe to camp alongside
the road in any areas along the way. We left Wa. state on the 3rd and have taken our time getting this far and don't want to rush if not necessary.
I also do not want to drive a night, and my wife is seldom ready to travel before 10 a.m. And they call these the 'Golden Years'?

South from Ensenada RV parks available at Colonia Guerrero (Posada Don Diego), San Quintin (Los Olivos), El Rosario (Sinahi Motel & RV Park),
Bahia de los Angeles (41 miles east on paved side road, many parks including Daggett's), Guerrero Negro (Malarrimo), San Ignacio (on the oasis river/
lake).

The mileage chart here is easier to read , IMO:

Not far enough to drive at night if you don't feel like. Click on the area of Interactive map, then click on the camp name for more details. Some camps have been closed and/or developed, but for the most part, the
information is current.

About same safe as in Wa, Or or Ca. Meaning - not very safe. And noisy near highway. There is no need, you will always find some camp.

Stay one night in Guerrero Negro, then on to Mulege. Don't camp by the side of the road.

Yeah, you will find RV parking, and no need to park on the side of the road.

There is no rush. Mulege is a nice place but it doesn't have to be a destination. You will always be disappointed when hurrying to some "dream
destination" that you've read about and never been before, only to find that it is not any better than a dozen places before and after. Check those
camps on the map and stop every 150-200 miles.
Bay of LA is worth spending a few days - or a couple of weeks - if you have time. Also, desert camp in Catavina (Rancho Sta Inez), often the 1st stop
after Ensenada, breaks the long stretch conveniently. Don't forget to top up the fuel at El Rosario before Catavina, the last gas station for the next
200 miles.

I always liked camping on the beach at El Tomatal, easy drive from Ensenada in one day, and usually deserted.

Well, for the record, I have camped there at least a half dozen times over the years and have never had a dead battery or experienced anything out of
the ordinary.

If we're just heading home to Playa El Burro (18 miles south of Mulege) and not looking to do side excursions we do one of the following: (1) If we
want to get home in two days we stay one night at Ranch Santa Inez which is almost exactly half way ie 300 miles. They have a taco stand type
restaurant- no hookups. The campground is well marked just off Mx1. (2) Most of the time we stop two nights. The first night we stay at Posado Don
Diegos. They have a great restaurant and full hookups. Hot showers. (They are a little less that 200 miles south of the border.) The second night we
stay at Mario's in Guerrerro Negro. (We have stayed at Malarrimos but we tow a car and Marios has pull thru's and is right off the main road.) Marios
has full hookups and a good restaurant- I love the seafood soup. The two stops make for a relaxing trip and you'll have plenty of time to sleep in,
have breakfast at the restaurants etc. If you don't know where you are camping in Mulege feel free to park beside our palapa at Playa El Burro. We
won't return until January and you are welcome to use the patio for shade etc. Have a fun trip. Ron

Woody, what about the 3rd camp in GN area, before the Mario's, right after the b BCS/BCN border? There used to be some, though I don't know if still
is.

Battery dead, spare battery dead... Was her solar charger or emergency starter unit dead too? Ah, I know, it was a Friday evening so the Sabbath had
begun...
