HughesNet problems?
Haven't been able to send email (Gmail) for 3 days. Was able to slip a Yahoo email out after several attempts. Many websites won't load. All neighbors
are having the same problems. The Hughes statistics for our connection show several "Bad" areas mostly related to Web Acceleration. I'd send them an
email but, uh...
In the past, if problems have been due to foul weather at Hughes Central in VA it clears up in a few hours.
Anybody else having problems and know what's up?

Try this:
On the line below the status radio button - at the end of the words is a figure of a little man. click on that.
That will open a "services" page.
Go to "Installation" and click.
That will bring up another page or dialogue. Click on "force ranging".
When the force ranging box comes up, click on the start force ranging.
And see what happens.
That is the only thing I know what to do with my Hugesnet system and seems to straighten it out every time - so far.

Thanks Mula- I tried it but no luck. Are you having any Hughes problems now? If not, that's weird that everyone I've talked to around here is having
problems.

Couple things I try when I have problems:
Disconnect the power to the modem for a couple minutes. When it reboots
type in 192.168.0.1/ then click the green button and see what's not working. After that wait for on of the techs here to take you through more
trouble shooting procedures if you still don't connect.

HughesNet Internet problem
Looking for help from any Nomads who have been experiencing problems with SatMex 5 the past few days. We are on Transponder 970 and it has been
pretty much unusable since Friday afternoon. Have made several calls to "tech service" and been told they are aware of the problem and it will be
fixed in 2 hrs. This is getting old and irritating after 4 days of being brushed off. They say they can't connect us to Advanced tech support, and
also can't change us to a transponder that does work. Our neighbor is on 1050 and it seems to be working ok.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially if someone has a direct phone # to Advanced tech who CAN switch us to a working transponder. I've
installed systems, aimed dishes, etc. for years so doing things on my end is easy. Appreciate any help.

oladulce...use
http://www.m.yahoo.com
if the system is slow
this is the site cell phones use
the email is a little different but its all there
and it uses way less bandwith so you can use email even with a degraded sat system

Spoke too soon. Still fuera de servicio.
Looks like it's better today.
I don't know anything about transponders but our System Info page says "Receiver Frequency: 970 MHz" so maybe we're on the same one gpm414 was
referring to.
Edited for update:
I posted too soon... Still having HughesNet problems.

Yes, 970 MHz is the transponder that we have and it was out since Friday afternoon. It seems to be repaired and working good today. Neighbors who
have 1050 and 1070 didn't seem to have problems.
It's a good idea to print the System Info page so you will have the information in case of an outage and you need the information when talking to
customer service. As you see on the left side of the page it has your site ID, serial number, etc.
As a side note, I'm wondering if anyone has their new Gen 4 system, or does it work in BCS? Noticed on their website it's $49/month and supposedly 10
times faster.
