ATT Phone calling 800 numbers

I would like to know if anyone knows how to dial the 800 numbers on an ATT phone with the Mexico plan? They seem to default to Mexican 800 numbers. Seems like an easy problem to solve, only, of all the people down in BAJA and using the ATT Phones have not found a way!

Great info. In the past, I would call our daughter in the states to get a local phone number for the company I was trying to reach. Most times the local branch would either have a non toll free number for the home office or they could transfer me. Much easier to use the 880 etc numbers.

Great information! Both links are very in depth and have lots of new info for me. The only part that does not work is using my Iphone with the Viva Mexico plan to call 800 number in the USA. I tried the 880 and 866 and dialed 001 pressed call and did not get a dial tone, still tried the 880 and 866, nada just get a Spanish recording that tells me I have dialed incorrectly. We of course have a Telemex landline and Telcel Cell phones, they can dial the 800 numbers just fine using the guides. Our Vonage works very well too, several of our friends that only have a roaming ATT USA phone wanted to know if there was a way, seems not.
Just as a side note, the IPhone with international assist, dials all other numbers with ease, it knows when you are calling the USA and adds necessary tones, when calling a local Mexican phone, only need to dial the 7 digit number, amazing how it knows!
