Dialing in the U.S. using a Mexican Cell phone?
Dear All:
I have a cell phone with a prepaid Telcel phone plan (and Mexican phone number). Can anyone tell me how to dial the following numbers, FROM THE USA?
1) A local (US) number?
2) A US cell number?
3) A Mexican land line??
4) A Mexican cell phone in Mx?
Thanks. I tried to search this site for answers, but as usual, I had trouble finding anything.

Tel Cel doesn't have towers in the USA.
At the border your phone will switch to At & T and it is so very costly.

I wonder how costly? I used to have AT&T prepaid, and when I used it in Baja California (via Telcel's towers) the cost was no different. But I
guess that's just an AT&T thing.

You dial numbers as if you are in the US, when using a Telcel phone in the US. So 1 (323) 555 1212 for a Hollywood number, for example, whether
landline or mobile.
To call Mexico, it's +52 686 555 1212 for landline, + 52 1 686 555 1212 for mobile. If you enter 011 instead of + your phone may try to correct it
but may get it wrong.
But you really, really don't want to do this unless it's an emergency. Telcel removed all the roaming rates information from their website back in
March, but in the last published rate before that it was $1.33 (that's dollars) per minute to call from the USA or Canada (roaming on AT&T or
Rogers), whether calling locally in USA or callng Mexico. Double that if you are roaming in Europe. Same cost for incoming calls, they are not free
while roaming (although incoming texts are free).
