Pocket Knife?

Is there restrictions on carrying a pocket knife? I guess primarily blade length.

Yes....blade length. From what I hear, it shouldn't exceed a couple of inches........something like that.....who TF knows.

I would hide all pocket knives in the back of your vehicle, out of reach. If they wanted to, they could use them as an excuse to get money from you.

I think any tourist can still buy switchblades and knife/ brass knuckle combos on first street in Ensenada. I guess they're ok.

i just have one I like to use for fishing etc... it's got a 5" blade. Its an expensive knife so maybe I better just leave it at home and buy one of those switch blades and some brass knuckles Dennis was talking about that way I have my choice- cut the fish or beat them:P

I wear a knife on my belt when camping and have gone through checkpoints with one on and have never had a problem.

Knife(s) in my tackle box, hatchet under the rear seat, pocket knife in the middle console.......never a issue.

Expandable wands are a no no they say, I prefer a cane sword or other hidden weapon. The 1 time I had the pleasure of staying in a baja jail a young man was in there for having a 5 inch blade kitchen knife considered a deadly weapon. The best out for anything Ive found is make friends with the local police chief and prosecutor and carry their cards on you and hand them over with your i.d. As for pocket knife- I carry a multy purpose tool on my belt and never had issues( course Im ex army and can do wonders with a tooth pick like get carne asada outa my teeth). Hope this helps, have a great day.

Well....we all know by now that it isn't the implement/weapon, it's the cop with whom you are dealing with at the time. If he's so inclined, he'll insist on a fine if your nails are too long.
Even lawyers down here don't know the law, but we most certainly can hire one to expand his education. I wish someone would do that so we can at last get a real answer to this recurring question, and while you're at it, ask him about crossbows as well.............pepper spray too.

D- I had a crossbow and it was no prob as for pepper spray my daughter carries it and had no problems. Now bear mace is the ticket tho triggered by motion sensors on your property backed up by having constitina wire, barbed wire and broken glass on the walls. With a row of cactus and on the interior bushes -punji sticks. Couple this with night vission glasses and a machete and big pit bulls-now were talking. As for the bars on your windows just remember a hydraulic jack can get thru so be prepared. Sorry flash backs to living in Rosarito in the early 2000s.

An aluminum baseball bat (with a ball ) so I can hit the ball for my dog

However this works great, and you don't have to get dirty:

But never, never point it at anyone's eyes....it may cause temporary blindness and disorientation.....

My son had a small pocket knife confiscated at the checkpoint just south of Rosarito. Ironically we saw the same knife for sale at the covered flea market in town.

I lost a Swiss Army knife (Boy Scout model) at the checkpoint north of San Ignacio a couple of years ago. Was in the console and having had no problems with the boys in khaki ever before, I got complacent. Now I make sure nothing tempting is in view.
