Are you looking for 80w-90, GL-5 hypoid gear oil? Synthetic or regular?
I'm not in Loreto, just trying to encourage you to be a little more specific. "Marine gear oil" is rather general.
I see 80-90 hypoid gear oil at auto parts places over here.

I figured my Merc lower end was due for a change, but I didn't bring any Quicksilver with me. Yee's tried to sell me some Quaker Quadrolube, but I
understand the marine is formulated differently. Maybe I'm wrong?
Thanks, MM. I'll add that to my trip to Loreto shopping list. Keeps getting longer & longer.

The Yamaha dealer in Santa Rosalia has tons of the stuff you need. He is just north of the 3rd Gasoline station as you go north. On the left side.
But the Auto Parts store in Mulege used to carry Pennzoil Marine lube in the small tube also.

gear case oil
If you cant find the quiksilver Mercury Marine oil use the Yamalube ...wow!!! someone here said GL-5...thats the cheap stuff...up to 17 bucks a quart
in the US and then you have GL-10..dont use the lower grades unless you have water in intrussion,, then just change after each trip that night !!!
K&T ...PS..sorrry ..long day in the engine room..hypoid 80/85/90 whatever
is no good in a marine lwr gear case...must say marine on the label to start with..car oils will foam and dont handle any water at ALL....

Total BS. Marine grade = higher price. I have been using GL-5 lower and delo 15/40 upper for 10 years in my f115 yamaha It now has 2500 hrs and is
still running like the day I bought it.

Delo is standard in marine apps?¿?¿ Its standard in my 3 diesel vehicles 2 vw aircooled motors and my outboard because its the best price and quality
I can get in 19 litre cubetas.. The only marine apps oil my old DeFever trawler with oil gussling twin catts saw was whatever diesel oil I could get
my hands on at the cheapest price. Hey if the MARINE word and price tag works for you then spend away!
Yamy junk? I guess you don´t fish in Mexico much. You probably have a Evinrude FICHT

I find that my 87 Volvo diesel and my 2000 Navistar diesel would actually burn a bit of Delo 400 between oil changes. The Rotella T doesnt do that,
but I have to carry the Rotella across the border as I havent found it down here. I'm just about out; saving the last for the old Volvo with 2900
hours.
My latest oil change in the Navistar, I used a Castrol 15w-40 diesel oil called Tection Global. API CL-4. It's one I just recently found down here. It
does not seem to burn the way the Delo does.
BTW, Delo is now being sold in those cases of 1 gallon containers at Costco down here. Even in the States, the Delo is usually the cheaper of all
these oils.
I've had some mechanics and read on some other discussion boards that using diesel oils even in gas powered engines is a good idea because diesel oils
are superior in many characteristics to oils made for gasoline engines. Certainly they are made to maintain lubricity even in the face of a high
particulate percentage. Just match the viscosity.
Incidently, there are 25w-60 oils down here for diesels. WOW! I guess hot conditions demand it in certain applications.

Yeah, I do come over, occasionally. By boat 1-2 times a year. By car, maybe once every other year.
I'm chomping at the bit to see the road from Gonzaga to HWY I completed. I'd like to start taking my cabover camper over to Baja and hit the Pacific
side in Oct/Nov/Dec for 2-3 weeks each year, when the fishing and weather are good. But that road is a major rattler for ANY type of RV/trailer. Been
there, done that. No good speed on it.
Naturally, I'd like a bigger boat than a 25 footer. Thinking about
doing a partnership on a trawler with Lehmans or maybe something a little quicker like a Mainship with a single diesel. I dont need speed, just
economy, now that I'm retired. Not interested in a sailboat; I dont like leaning everywhere I go. Although, truth be told, most all the sailors I know
never seem to be under sail. Too much hassle, I guess.

You are clueless and I think off your meds. I have over 10 years of use in the tropics on my Yamaha f 115. My boat is in the water 10 months a year. 0
problems.
Hope you are hugging your Evinrude FICHT to keep you warm. Oh I forgot that motor would never run long enough to keep you warm.

LOL..LOL.sailboats !!
Funny you should mention that !! ragmen think that since the wind is "free" every thing else should also be free..and I can say with confidence sail
boats as a lot do not spend time or money on their motors and 99.99 times when they need rescue its a pwr boat to the rescue..I guess you know that AQ
is a great boat motor too..waiting for work weather window in monterey bay ca. K&T
