Do I really need to get health certificate for my dog? Best Anejo Tequilla?
Been traveling to Baja for past 8 or so years but only drove down for my first time this year. Heading down again starting Dec 27... I got a health
cert for my dog last time but nobody asked me for paperwork and friends have told me not to bother as they've never been asked? What is the opinion
here as when I lived in the Caribbean this was a huge deal.
Also, a few years back I came across an amazing anejo tequilla that I think was made my El Jimador but it had a raised silver fake metal label on it.
It was only around $25-30 in some hole in the wall liquor store and I haven't been able to find it since (have had friend look at big stores in la paz
for me). Any recommendations for nice anejo that has rich caramel color, has no kick at end, is super smooth and affordable? Got my first taste of
some tequilla aged in burgundy wine barrels for six months.. amazing,no kick and no hangover!
Thanks in advance for any advice:-) Marina in California

Health Cert for dog not needed. I've never been asked for.
Jimador is good.

It is Always Best to Be Prepared
Going to Mexico, once we were pulled over to inspect our vehicle and asked about dog certificates and I pulled a thick folder with of vet records and
offered it to the officers. They didn't even look - just waved us on.
Going north, we were pulled over into secondary and had to wait while they got a chip reader to check our dogs' info. It was a roving task force
looking for illegal animal smuggling.
These jerky ICE officials were rude and offensive, despite the fact that our dogs had San Diego licenses on their collars; they put us through the
whole power trip, "We can hold you as long as we want" routine.

I agree............the first time you do not have it will be the first time they ask. I have been though many times over the years and never been
asked..........I would not dream of going without it. Nancy

Health Certificates are needed if you travel by airplane. Make sure to carry records of rabies and all the rest! You can;'t bring any dog food back
or they will put you in secondary. There are a few Nomad Tequila affecionados!? Oh Yeah, Bienvenidos to Nomads--Welcome. Tio

Dog papers
I have crossed with dogs many times. Never been asked to show the papers, which I always have current and with me. Luck is nice, but unreliable.

Here' Another Story About Dogs at the Border
The U.S. agent looked in our window and admired our Great Dane service dog.
He didn't ask for papers, but wanted to chat.
He said that the week before, he had stopped and inspected a Mexican plated vehicle towing a long, metal windowless trailer. He asked the driver to
open it and there were four giant dogs (his description) chained to the four corners of the trailer.
He just chuckled and didn't seem to have a clue that the cargo was obviously fighting dogs going north to fight for others' amusement.
It made me sick.

marina, I know noting about dogs, Tequila, I have enjoyed once or four times. Try 30-30 at room temp. When it's cold it will taste average, but at
room temp another story. Very good, very smooth, about $15.00 per ltr. check it out. 30-30 can be found in many stores but you do need to look.
The 30-30 lever action was the firearm of the last revolution. It is been praised in more then one song. Americans tend to draw other conclusions by
its name.

I second tiotomasbcs' statement. When flying, it's a must (certificate within 5 days of entry) coming into Mex. Out, they don't ask anything. (just
flew back)
Driving, we have never been asked, either way, north or south.
The grass is always greener....
and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. We carry auto insurance always, needed it once.

Dog info
Get a copy of your dog(s) health records, to include all vaccinations from your Vet.
Take several photos of your dog and put them on a USB memory stick, take the stick with you......never know when you will need photos.
Order two pet ID tags like this:
http://www.boomerangtags.com/store/list.php?A=S&ID=27
One in Spanish and one in English with contact/reward info.

The one time you're asked for papers you can say: well, nobody is ever asked for papers. Why are you asking me?

It depends on how much you love your dog and how much you respect the law. A health certificate is no big deal to get from your vet.
