Roger,
Are you thinking of relocating to one of these Central American countries after the sale of your Coyote digs?
Thanks for the exploratory. Have you heard about the consistently good yellowfin tuna and marlin fishing out of San Carlos? They are catching them at
25-30 miles on a 180 degree heading out of the bahia mouth. If you do another exploratory, you might head in that general direction from your side;
maybe there is good blue water in that direction. Not suggesting you try and drive all the way over, of course.
BTW, what was the color of the water that you saw?

dirtydieseldave....(do you know a brokenlegdave?)......I do know of the Marshall Islands in the southern Pacific. I met a family of singers from
there who were camping next to my house in Coyote Bay many years ago...in 1984, I believe..and in particular, a fetching young gal named Lanoeeti who
lived on the island of ...Pinguino?? The family was on a US tour the next year and stopped to see me at my home in Fargo, ND. after giving a concert
in Minneapolis. That is a nice place in the world, I'm sure...but a little 'hot' for this Norski...and my skin is not as sunproof as those natives.
Beautiful ebony bodies with stunning teeth and eyes. Voices like angels.
But you have to wait a bit....I am thinking of a 'remote' getaway. Will post when I find the right one.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

On the fringes
Pompano, you'll be hard pressed to find a place that rivals your location.
But here's a place still on the fringes, where they speak Spanish with a funny accent and welcome signs are everwhere.

Sometimes you have to double park your panga

But a hand always appears to help you on to the dock

but there's plenty of shade

Damn, latitude26n, maybe it's just me, but I don't see any photos...if that's what you are sending? All I get is a box with a red X. I appreciate
the thought, however.
Okay, got them now...thanks for the U2U. Great pics and how's the fishing? Looks like a place I have been to...near Gulfo de Dulce?

The photos were only meant to spark the desire to go searching-
something I'm itchin' to do myself right now.
The location in the photos is still way off the radar for most people, and to keep it on the fringes we'll answer
"oh yeah it's Costa Rica", like we always do.
If anybody recognizes it, you probably love it as much as we do. So please smile and play along.
I haven't heard of the fish in your photo being caught on a regualr basis Pompano. There aren't as many big rivermouths along this stretch of coast
and climatic conditions are a little different.
have fun

Not what it used to be
Pompano:
I think were out of here too. The wave is upon us and the whole reason for going to baja in the first place is rapidly disintigrating. There is no
getting away from it all anymore.
We go out onto the back roads and boonies and run into everything and everyone you can imagine- numerous other "explorers" smugglers and lately the
ever present military. The peace and quite and solitude is gone along with the placid innocence of a wonderful people. Oh , did I mention that the
fishing is NOTHING like it used to be. Yep , Viva Baja
Place in Chivato is for sale. Wife and I are looking to roam costa rica for a look around. Hear there's an ample supply of good cigars in C.A.

Bocas and beyond
I'd be curious to hear what you thought of Bocas del Toro if you get there Pompano. There's been such a huge real estate push for that area over the
past couple of years I wonder if it's still enough of a "fringe" location. But if you go there and it's a winner, please make something up if you give
a report online!
I asked my Dad what his favorite place was when he sailed from Cali. to Isla Mujeres (via the Panama Canal) and without hesitation he said it was the
islands off Panama on the Pacific side .
A few piratas, but they keep out the riff-raff !

all you folks complaining about how much much baja has changed obviously dont live in oarnge county,ca.....a place where i'm told as recently as the
60's was almost all oarnge groves is now as chaotic and frenzied a place as one might imagine...try to find a nice out of the way place to unwind or
do some exploring, wont happen because where ever you go and whatever you do there will already be some one else there....i do alot of mt.biking and
offroad activity and were basically very lucky that there still is places to ride at all due to the fact that every where you look they are
building, what was once open space or a forested area is now either a housing development or a strip mall(not joking)...oh and the beach, dont even
bother in the summer time because if you can actually find a place to park and a little sand patch not taken you might not be to thrilled to see cops
in shorts patrolling the beach handing out tickets to people who play smashball or dig holes in the sand(again, not joking)are you kiddiing,i'll take
baja over this madness any day of the week

Where do you think alot of us folks grew up?
You'll know them in Baja as people who are always complaining of neck pain- from looking over their shoulder to see if it (the big orange) is
following them.

eetdrt88... I couldn't agree more. Although I have never been a fan of anywhere within 200 miles of Orange County, I once stopped at a beach to let
my well-behaved and trained Lab out to romp, pee, and take a dump on the beach. I was right there with my pooper scooper and baggie to pick up the
land mines. Well, that didn't stop the cute young cop in the shorts from giving me a $200 ticket for letting my dog run loose on the beach..she had
to have been all of 15 feet from me for the entire 10 minutes we were there. I told him in Norwegian where to shove that ticket...I think he got my
meaning! Anyway, I will never get another ticket like that, because I never have re-visited that area and never will in this lifetime.
As crowded as Baja has become, it's light years away from Orange County...the place where Mother Nature inserts the suppositories. I feel your pain.
