Gas (LPG) Cost Conversion
660+ pesos for 30 kilos (2 kilos per gallon) = 15 gallons
660 pesos at 12.6 to 1 exchange rate = 52.38 dollars
52.38 dollars divided by 15 gallons = $ 3.50 per gallon
Is that the rate they are charging at the gas plants?

Is this right, David? I always assumed LPG and propane had a similar weight to water.
That said....two kilos is 4.4 pounds and a gallon of water is eight pounds.
It's probably my math, but something doesn't add up here.

2 kilos per gallon is closer accuracy than any dispenser machine is likely to argue with. It varies slightly with the blend but averages something
like 4.407 pounds per gallon. Propane is slightly lighter.
Try to see if the plant price is less than 3.50 a gallon. Here is a cut and paste from the 10th..
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mexico. - During October, the price of a kilogram of liquefied petroleum gas (LP) will be 11.95 pesos in Mexico City, and in some municipalities
(Counties) in the states of Mexico and Hidalgo.
Under the agreement published by the Secretary of Energy in the Official Journal of the Federation, this price is three cents higher than the previous
September, which was price then at 11.92 pesos.
Thus, the 20-kilogram tank of energy will increase from 238.4 to 239 pesos in parts of the Mexican capital by LPG suppliers.
The higher price of energy to the end user applying in Mexico (City) during October will be 12.54 pesos in Region 9, which includes some
municipalities of Baja California Sur.
By contrast, the lowest price in the country will be 9.41 pesos in the region 21, including some locations in the state of Chihuahua.

I doubt that.
I question this as well:
"2 kilos per gallon is closer accuracy than any dispenser machine is likely to argue with. It varies slightly with the blend but averages something
like 4.407 pounds per gallon. Propane is slightly lighter."

Propane
The density of propane at 25 degrees C is .493 grams per cubic centimeter. Converting gives 4.11 pounds per gallon.
LPG
LPG is mainly Propane (C3H8), Butane (C4H10) or a mix of Propane / Butane. Since LPG has such a simple chemical structure, it is among the cleanest
of any alternative fuels.
LPG is stored as a liquid under pressure. It is almost colourless and its weight is approximately half that of an equivalent volume of water.
The calorific value of LPG is about 2.5 times higher than that of main gas so more heat is produced from the same volume of gas.

You can convert this anyway you want to:
In La Paz, at the gas plant just south of town, on Fri 1/19,
I just filled an empty 20lb US tank, (actual fill w/ auto-shutoff valve is usually about 4 gallons), and a second tank that was almost empty,
(probably took about 3 gallons).
Total purchase: about 7 gallons, price = 207 pesos.

The bulk trucks usually charge the same as the plant [that's here anyway] so I'll have to wait for one to come through later today and get the price
off the sign.

I don't believe I've ever seen a 30 kilo tank. The large, truck delivered tanks around four feet tall are 45 kilo tanks and and I don't think 380Ps
would even begin to pay for one of those. Not sure....I'll have to look.

Our guys here stopped delivering the 45 kg a year or two ago. Something about too many back injuries.
