extra gas
have a pair of 5 gallons cans mounted ....can I cross with them filled ?

It's a crap shoot.... Sometimes you can, sometimes they tell you no. Gas is cheaper in Mexico; I would fill them there. Good luck!

No, and if caught they will turn you back then how are you going to dispose it? Gas is cheaper and better in Mexico... no corn (ethanol) in it. Best
price begins 20 km. south.

I no longer cross with full cans. Once I had five empties and one full. They let me go after I told them I always carry one for emergency and was
about to fill up the others. Besides, gas is cheaper down there.
However, I always cross going north with as much gas as I can carry.

I get better mileage with the gas I buy in Baja. Plus, you spend less money to go further. What a no brainer!

i think the 20 miles south thing is BS nowadays. it costs 10.61 pesos per LITER everywhere on our week long tour last week.
