Villa Bahia bay of L.A.
I sent a note to Villa Bahia passing on the negative comment that was posted by Jaybo..In their reply they stated that several folks had commented on
the emaciated dog there, it is a rescue dog that was hit by a car and abandoned. They are spending quite a bit of $$$ on medicine but the poor dog is
not responding well..It has been to a vet in Ensenada. And yes, last month Roger was gone for quite a while to San Diego and had a worker "watching"
the place, they apologized for his obvious neglect in poop patroling etc. Roger is back and has made lots of improvements> They are open and
welcoming folks. Hope this encourages folks to go there..It really is a very cool place...and nice folks.
Mexico!! Where two can live as cheaply as one.....but it costs twice as much.....

Great news, thanks... Glad it was as I suspected (poor caretaker) and not intentional neglect of the dogs or property!

You should pass along that he should never ever trust that caretaker again. The door to the "office" was unlocked and I could have taken anything. I
would never do that of course, I only opened the door to yell Hola! in case the bell wasn't working. Glad to hear that they were working with the
rescue dog, but the other dog with the festering infected eye looked pretty sad too.
I will pass this along to my wife so she is aware of the circumstances as well since she was very distraught and concerned about it. If we make it
back there I may have to give them another chance, although we really liked the Princess Hotel. Thanks for passing this along, I appreciate knowing
the rest of the story.

gee really, so if the owners knew that the manager was going to leave for awhile? why didnt they come down or some one from the family and help in
managing the place, so they just let anybody run it,, so nice

Jaybo-
I understand your concerns.
In the times my wife and I have visited there we have had various folks subbing for Roger - we think they have been great.
Roger has been great to deal with.
Recognize the place for what it is - not a hostel, not a Marriott.
We have never had a bad experience there - even during crowded Baja race events.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend folk going there.
If you look all over Baja there are stray dogs everywhere - whose job is it to take care of them? For sure, not every property owner.

Skippermike,
Did you read my concerns on the other thread? I posted exactly what I observed. I noted the conditions of the animals and the property and the lack of
*anyone* being in attendance there. The animals I saw were in poor shape, even accounting for the differences in the quality of care, maintenance and
feeding when comparing our native country to theirs.
In my and my wifes mind there were serious concerns so that is what I reported. they can be the best people ever but when I was there, the urine smell
was overpowering the minute we walked into their compound, the animals were in poor shape and there was dog poop everywhere.
I reported what I saw, I did not exaggerate, so regardless of your past experience, that was mine as of February 19th, 2013. Sorry if you don't like
what I reported but it is what I experienced. I just hope the owner takes corrective actions now and in the future or I will not be the only one
reporting this. I totally realize this is not the Marriot, I was not expecting that it would be. It is just what it is as I reported on the date I
was there.

Jaybo: Your honest reporting and full disclosure should be welcomed by everyone, specially Villa Bahia owner Roger. If Nomads remain silent about
conditions actually observed, how does that help fix the problem? Roger will be lucky if he wasn't robbed given the office was open! Caretaker fail,
even if feeding and cleaning up after the dogs isn't his duty.
Things do change in Baja... A great place one trip can turn ugly if left to others to run, but it can get back to the way it was. A meal at Mama
Espinoza's can be a delicious experience one trip, and make someone sick the next. We get to hear from everyone who experiences Baja who takes time to
report it here... and this constant updating of travel data is an enormous benefit to the rest of us having a good vacation or other Baja experience.
Like that news network, we report and you decide!

Not necessarily so.
If one gives an honest report about their experience somewhere or with someone, it depends on with whom you disagree. Some people will tell you
that you are wrong and that your experience was not real or that you just don't understand Baja. It is rather dictated that one agrees with certain
people, or they are dog meat.
Even if one reports that they found filth, no water, roaches, etc., in places that certain people like, well they are told they are just not Baja
people. There are places and people around here who are viewed as sacrosanct.
Experiences and opinions belong to each individual, but it is often not seen to be that way around here. And it ain't going to change; it is what it
is.

I see what you mean. Your post brought out an immediate negative response.

Actually Ralph, her NEGATIVE response to the good thread brought an immediate constructive and evidence filled reply from me, the target of her
attack! .... |
I don't see DianaT's response as "negative"....I do see it as expressing a different viewpoint, and by doing so, treaded upon the sacrosanct.
Her point exactly. I shared some strong opinions about your political whining and harangues last week and was told by a few of your fans that I had no
wit and contributed nothing to BN....compared to your stellar mapmaking (which even I have thanked you for publicly a number of times on-line).
Let me be succinct: David, I am diametrically opposed to your political views and will disagree with them whenever and wherever I want...your blaming
liberals for how your world is simply demonstrates a narrow view that I believe is dangerous (as you do mine). I appreciate your wealth of Baja
knowledge but not how you slip in political innuendo and outright blaming accusations when it is not called for.
I don't know Diana and may have offended her at times with my sarcasm, unsolicited comments or whatever, so I am not taking personal sides as much as
ideological ones.
Keep on informing us with maps, history and Baja enthusiasm. But STFU with your right wing crap....and if you do, I will stop with my unenlightened
liberal counterpoints
I have had some Nomads indicate to me that their liberal voices just get drowned out on this forum with the louder blathering of you and your ilk, and
they have been smarter than me by not even playing that game....
So, my challenge to you, David, is to keep it Baja related and I will do the same.
Your move
Don't believe everything you think....

David, I don't know why you would have a problem with me commenting to Diane. As you have said many times, this is an open forum.
You are over-reacting to any comment I make. Diana made some good points and there was nothing wrong with agreeing with her.
Sit and contemplate your navel for a while, you will calm down and realiz not everyone is out to get you.

It seems that if david said that the sun rose this morning someone here would take exception with it. And then go on a policitcal harrange which they
will blame on david.
Unless I missed it, there wasn't any politics on here under Motoged brought it.
Why?
I admit that I'm not totally objective, but I just didn't read anything here, in anyones posts, that should have inspired the gang tackle that was
directed at DK. I agree that he tosses out some zingers from time to time, and that his political views aren't a secret, but at least limit the DK
bashing to threads in which he has brought it on himself.
Stalking him from thread to thread, and disagreeing with whatever he posts is just creepy bullying and, IMHO, doesn't belong here.

David,
My initial response was not solely pointed toward you --- there were no names involved and you do not stand alone in the sanctified box.
I guess the only reason you were so quick to think it was directed toward you is that you are well aware that in the past you have accused me of not
telling the truth about our experiences in Baja because our experiences did not match yours. As much as you protest, you do not always play nice.
It was good to see you admit it. I put the laughing faces because it truly made me laugh. And again, you do not stand alone.
