Yes, but look well into it before you buy. Houses are seen differently and your policy has to be for your type of structure. For instance, a policy
covering a block house won't cover a wood framed structure or a mobile home and that probably won't be explained until it's way too
late...like....you know....when the fire is completely out.

Like Dennis says its different , Things like windows, cabinent work and a multitude of others are considered Personal Property and if not listed as
such on the policy are not covered.

So let me get this straight, if the house burns down to the ground, and it was built on leased land, who gets the money, the owner of the land?

That actually happend in La Joya the land owner sued the house owner and they won because they produced Recipets to prove they built the house so
the court ruled in favor of the house owner.

Yes, just make sure you ARE the home owner. Many homes offered for sale by gringos are what I call an "unreal real estate". They merely sell the
"structure". Somebody living in a trailer on a campground decides to build a home. He still lives on a campground and pays a rent, but he can now sell
the structure to somebody. No land comes with it, so you are not an owner of anything, and, consequently, have limited options of insurance. Sometimes
possible, not always. If campground owner decides to sell the camp for development - sometimes they do - then you lose it for sure  ...

Yeah - JP - structures on leased land can be insured. Depends on the structure and lease agreements. I've just edited my earlier post to reflect this.

I once owned a lake House on a Corp of Engineer Lake in Texas the land was owned by the Goverment and leased to me.
All land in the U.S. is owned by the goverment You just Purchase a bundle of Wrights. If the goverment Want's It they can take it With or Without
Just compesation.

Our house is as many are on leased property. The ins. carrier I use is MAPFRE they are all over Mexico.

We have "homeowners" insurance on our house in Loreto. We recently had a burglery and about $2000 USD worth of stuff was stolen. We just received
payment from the insurance company for the amount of all the items less 30% depreciation, which is more than fair. We didn't know how the company
would handle a claim, but I'm a believer now.
