Passport question AGAIN
I know this has been covered before, and I've done a search for this subject, but just want to ask again.
Passports are required for travel to Baja when flying there, but are NOT required for driving down and back, right?
A drivers license for ID will work for re-entry to the US, right? My daughter is freaking out because she has an expired passport and wants to go to
Ensendada with us next month.

Bob -
We took our 20 year old grand daughter down the first of March for 10 days and gave the guy at the north bound border crossing her CA drivers license
and copy of her birth certificate and he was happy. Not sure how they act with only a DL.
We could not get her a visa without a passport, so we went to Los Barriles and back without one. Never a problem.
Of course, I told the grand daughter the worst that could happen to her for not having a passport was 2 or 3 days in the TJ jail, with the desired
effect, but it all went smooth as silk.

I just crossed the border north last week and I saw many folks showing ONLY their drivers license with no problem at all.
Really, you need the passport to get the tourist visa, but that's it.

Since we are sort of on the subject can a Sentri card be used as the only document to cross the border or do you get a lecture from the border agents?

In Sentri lane obviously no problem. In Ready Lane no problem. I am fairly certain (83.4%) that we used Sentri cards at Tecate regular lanes one time

I will ask my daughter to bring her birth certificate. That should do it along with DL when returning to the USA.
Thanks for all the responses....

Suggest she bring a copy of birth certificate not the original.

Crossed at Tecate with expired passport and the guard on duty told me it is OK to cross with expired passport by land, not by air.
