Hotel/Motel South of Guerrero Negro that takes a dog?
I and my trusty dog are driving south to Loreto and were planning on overnighting in GN. Just in case I am running ahead of schedule and want to
drive a little further south, is there anyone who can recommend a hotel in Vizciano or ? that will take a dog.? I am talking about in the range of an
hour or so South of GN.

Howard, when you hit Guerrero Negro, you're going to be so damn tired that you had better stop. And besides, that stretch from GN to San Ignacio is in
really terrible condition. It's know as "death alley". Lots of rollovers out there.
Stay at the Malarrimo Hotel. Check in, ask for a room around the back so you can watch your vehicle, and sneak the dog in after a while.
They won't get mad at you, I promise. 
Drive carefully, have a safe trip.

There are a couple of hotels in Vizcaino, but don't know about accepting dogs. Maybe look for phone numbers? Hotel Olivia at one of the bus depots
and Hotel Kadekaman and the south end of town.
If you make it as far as San Ignacio, the old Desert Inn/La Pinta accepts dogs.

Stay in the yurts at Ignacio Springs. Relax and have an excellent dinner(call ahead for ressies. Be sure to tell Terry that you want to eat dinner:
615-154-0333) The next morning take off with your tummy full of Gary's homemade sausage, Terry's homemade breads & jams, expresso, country eggs.

Howard, GN is far enough for one day especially as I know you like to go through Tecate. No sense in pushing it, you still need another half day to
get to Loreto. See you there in May.

Motel Kadakaman
If you, or anybody, find yourselves in Vizcaino in need of a sleep, a great option is the Motel Kadakaman (to remember think "Kodak-man"). Its on the
west side of the highway at the turnoff to the coast.
Its $500 pesos for a cute little room, windows have shutters so its real dark, wifi is included and there's a restaurant on-site.
Its on the site of a citrus orchard and there's lots and lots and lots of room in the enclosed, safe compound. Walls are 15 feet high so road noise is
at a minimum.
I always ask for a room at the back of the complex facing the orchard. My dogs and I stroll through the grounds; there's no signs in the office
prohibiting dogs and we've never been questioned about their well-behaved presence.

Howard...I called HOtel Olivia in Vizcaino and they said NO DOGS....just for your FYI...Kadakaman is real cute and has good food too...safe journey

Thank you everyone for your feedback. IF I decide to travel beyond GN, it sounds like the "Kodak" hotel for us.

Kadakaman report
Last Sunday going Southbound, around 6:00, I pulled into Vizciano and went to the Kadakman Motel.
The people at the office seemed to be pre occupied on the computer, especially a female who seemed like the boss. Anyway, when they got to me and I
asked if they had a room they said Si for 600 pesos. I mentioned that friend stayed there recently for less money and she said this was for a king
size bed and they had a double for 550 pesos and that was there lowest priced room.
Anyway, took the room and asked for it to be in the back and mentioned that I had a dog and what appeared to be the boss lady said "it's not going to
be in the room, is it?" After assuring her of course not, she said OK.
The room was OK and clean with very fast Internet Wi-Fi. Like Mulegena said, there is plenty of space in the back to play with your dog and play
ball, etc. A little pricey for the room but it was nice and clean and I tend to live in the past on prices. The hot water came from the cold water
side and took about 5 minutes to get warm then hot and the water pressure was good.
Went to the restaurant and was just terrible. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, scallops in butter and garlic but it just tasted terrible and the
salad was marginal. I did not get sick and was grateful for that.
Now for the big question, would I stay there again and the answer is only in a pinch and might try eating there again but really be more traditional
on what I order.
All things considered, I give it a Baja 4 stars out of a possible 10. Just so you know my judging scale, I give Jardines a 9.5 and the restaurant next
store the same.

so since the dog wasnt allowed in the room...try Hotel Olivia next time behind the bus depot....cheaper, big rooms, nice and clean, attentive staff in
the office, wifi and a big courtyard and eat at restaurant next ot the bus depot or Marta's a block down or the little restaurant beside the grocery
store Sotres...nice economical food, large protions and very friendly too.

I thought that the Olivia did not take dogs? By the way, please tell Juan that we caught 5 dog tooth snapper yesterday North of Loreto. We ate one
last night and was one of the best tasting fish that I have EVER tasted.
Anyone out there ever tasted them?

Best dog rooms in Baja that I have stayed in that is extremely dog friendly including giving them treats. Wasn't cheap, maybe around $60 (I forgot)
Ignoring the price this is a "10" for you and your pooch.
Limited amount of dog friendly rooms so make reservations.

right Howard...but I consider if a hotel says no dogs in the rooms...like Kadekaman...well, that means no dogs right? like Hotel Olivia.
Here we have several doggie/kitty/parrot/monkey friendly rentals but also have pet free rooms here at the Inn for people who like that...but people
have stayed here who kept their pet in the car.
maybe see you in the fall depending on what PRI does and doesnt do

Can you please explain a little more on the do's and dont's of the monkey friendly room? If and when I ever bring a little monkey down I do not want
to get 86ed becasue of not knowing the rules.

Haven't counted but Vizcaino seems to have four or five hotels. Other than nothing having bank service worth a @#$%^&! the town actually is
prosperous because of the farms (actually a gigantic aquifer think). A tip: The transitos de municipio de Mulege seem to get all kind of upset if a
person makes a left turn off the main highway. There is a left turn lane at Cuatro Altos the four way stop sign but it's best to dive onto a paralelo
and then cross on over to the other side or to make a u-turn. at an unprotected intersection watch yourself as this can be tricky with traffic coming
from everywhere. The local transitos do not enjoy a sterling reputation amongst the local gente.

I have eaten there several times; usually breakfast after staying somewhere else. I did eat dinner there once and it was very good. The owner is hands
on with the kitchen and restaurant management.
Since when did they start accepting dogs? I talked to the owner a couple of years ago (he hangs out in the restaurant). At that time he said my dog
would have to stay in my vehicle.

They changed their policy around a year ago. The pet friendly rooms have nice tile floors so bring fido's dog bed into the room. The front desk even
gave dog cookies to give your dog. Like I said, they have a limited amount of rooms that are set up to take pets and pretty sure they will not take
monkeys!

I forgot what the basic room rate was but they charged a pet fee which brought the total to around $60.
