San Felipe Sim Card?

I will be travelling to Cancun and Puerta Vallarta this year and will be needing a SIM card for those trips. I thought I would get the SIM in San Felipe while I was down there in the next couple of weeks to save me the aggravation in CUN and PVR.

I read that there are 4 Telcel stores in San Felipe. Will I be able to get the SIM in any of them? Any recommendations on which Telcel store to go to ? I have an iphone 5 so I will need a nano sim. Will they cut it for me?

Also, is there a limited on how many sims I can buy? I wanted to get some extras for family members when we go to Cancun.

I am assuming you are talking about a SIM card for pay as you go?

I now use ATT with the Viva Plan and don't have to worry about it.

However, years back, I bought time for my pay as you go Mexico phone, and bought some of the 300 peso cards.

When we arrived in Puerto Vallarta, I tried to load the card and it wouldn't take.

I called customer service and they told me the cards I bough are designed for a particular region and wouldn't work in PV.

Interesting. I heard that all telcel SIM cards work everywhere. The phone number might not be local if you bought in SF but would work in PV.

There is an online website (travellers telecom ) that sells you a Mexican sim for a premium. The sims are Mexico City based but the website owner says it will work anywhere. I told him I will in SF, PV, and CUN and they said no problem.

My wife was just in Vietnam on business. She bought a $3 at airport. Popped it in her iPhone 4S and called me that she had arrived. Much easier than Mexico :)

I still think we need a baja tech forum. LOL.
