What is the current name of the Desert Inn/La Pinta in San Ignacio these days?
Last I stayed there they allowed dogs. Any recent reports?

Desert Inn. We stayed there in March after petting whales. Great value at $65.00 which was the same as Rice and Beans was getting for room. We don't
have dogs. We stayed at Rice and Beans first night because Desert Inn was sold out.

Stayed there the first week of May 2013.
Yes, they accept pets. Posted on the sign board right at the front desk.
Rate: $650 MXN
Restaurant: Convenient but just so-so.
Name: Never noticed, just checked in, as usual.

Spending a few quiet minutes in the early morning drinking coffee in the dining room and staring out at the landscape is one of my favorite things to

As Nomad DianaT noted recently, the name is the same, but apparently the government is running it right now. Don't expect any upgrades until it is
sold.
Most of that original chain, Camino Real, La Pinta, Desert Inn has been sold off to other folks. The Los Pinos folks from San Quintin bought the San
Quintin and Catavina locations and did some great upgrading, especially in the dining room.
They use the name Mission, as in Hotel Mission Catavina.
The one just outside of Guerrero Negro is now called Halfway Inn. Don't know who bought it.

If true, why didn't they use "Mission" in the name? Seems strange to me that they would not.
On the other hand, if what you state is correct, inasmuch as the Los Pinos folks upgraded the restaurants at San Quintin and Catavina, it would make
for a sensible stop. The noise factor on the main drag in GN is almost enough by itself to keep me out of town.

If looking up data on the Internet, the Spanish spelling of 'mission' has only one S, the accents are probably optional! LOL: Hotel Misión Santa María
(just south of San Quintín) and Hotel Misión Cataviñá (in Cataviñá).

Well my butt will be staying at Desert Inn San Ignacio in a few weeks. I will be rising early, heading out to Scorpion Bay via the North Road. I
will air down. I will cruise into Datil and give away some steeeekers. Then I'll arrive around 11AM and paddle out for a nice chest high wave. I
will then retire to my casa for a tecate and a nap.

just pull into San Ig and cross the river. the yurts are right there on the left. Ignacio Springs BnB. the breakfast (included) is the best in Baja,
hands down. perfect way to start the trip.

First of all, for DK, Mision and Mission are pronounced similarly.
As for capitolkat, outside of whale season, or a baja race, your chances of not getting a room as a walk in at the Desert Inn San Ignacio amounts to
something like 0.2%.
A Late arrival fall back option for me has always been the Rice & Beans place. Somewhat spare, but clean. Their restaurant is fairly good, too.

Did I ever say otherwise? In fact, I specifically commented about the spelling (for Internet searching, etc.).
It is too bad we cannot hear each other when we read what is typed here. My posts (especially on Baja place name spelling) are intended to be helpful
and not critical, but some of the Nomads think otherwise. I guess I just don't type the right words to convey that, I am sorry.
