best grocery store to go to?

Hello all!

I'm new in the area and I am wondering in your experience, what is the best place or places to go for groceries? So far I've been to a bunch of liquor store like stores and I am thinking there has to be something better...

Oh by the way I am in the La Mision area.

I like the small market in La Mision that is on the free road on the left side of the road right before you go over the bridge. I can't remember the name of it though. It's nothing fancy but they have a decent selection of staples as well as fresh veggies and meat.

Comercial Mexicana is probably my number one favorite....followed by WalMart. It's all about selection, as well as quality.
These are in Rosarito as well as other places.

Our favorite, (although not in La Mision area) is Mercado El Roble which is right across from the bodega de Santo Tomas in downtown Ensenada. They have hormone/medication free chicken, meat a decent selection of produce and lots of goodies that you would find at a Trader Joes

Get to know your neighbors. The locals know all the best places, The big markets are not always cheaper or better. I used to purchase the best meat from a little place, Walked by it for a year, before a local told me about it, it was better and cheaper then the big places.
You're in Mexico, live a bit more like a local.

yup, the locals know all the best places, they go to walmart, calimax, and commercial just like the rest of us. here in the la mision/primo tapia area there's enough folks to support a small calimax ( you know, like the one that destroyed san felipe) but for now stock up at walmart (20 miles north) and dont forget gas, our brand new pemex in primo tapia is still collecting dust!

Crap. San Diego is a bit too far from us in Disneyland adjacent. El Roble Organic looks great.

El Roble is a neat place to shop very friendly staff and if they don't have what you want they will get it for you.The other store we like is Comercial Mexicana.
