Todos Santos Music Festival

Does anyone on the forum happen to know whether or not there will be a Todos Santos Music Festival in 2014? It was quite successful this past year, not to mention a wonderful time. Given that January is a fairly busy time in Todos Santos, I'd want to make plans as soon as possible.

As far as I know the festival will be on again this year, but it doesn't look like anything's been announced yet. It's definitely a great event, with fantastic music, and supports a good cause. It's absolutely the best event of the year for the area.

I wrote to the Palapa Society, who sponsor the Todos Santos Music Festival, and they replied that the board plans to meet and vote on funding, dates, etc. With or without the festival, my wife and I are likely to visit in January, but it would definitely affect our choices of dates.

I was able to visit with one of the artist playing at last years TS Music Fest at a recent concert. Alejandro Escovedo said he really enjoyed himself at the fest and, if invited, he would definitely be back. He hadn't heard anything as of a couple weeks ago. In my opinion this the best event of the year in TS. Music fans in TS can thank Peter Buck of REM fame for putting this event on.

I recieved an email from a member of the Palapa group. No TSMS this Jan, but you can expect Peter Buck and some friends to be performing at some local venues. Maybe TioTomas can offer up his resort for a concert or 2.

Not having the festival will be a bummer, but we'll still come for a visit in January. If Peter Buck and friends are there at the same time, so much the better.

I had written to the Palapa Society to confirm the rumors that the Music Festival was not happening in 2014, and received this email from Chloe Johnson:

Code:
hi paul, none of those rumors are true. we promise to update as soon as we have everyone on the same page. thanks, chloe

Chloe Johnson, by the way = Mrs. Peter Buck. So I guess the answer is... maybe?

I also asked on the Minus Five (Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey's band) Facebook page if they would be in Todos Santos for the festival, and they just replied "Stay tuned". Not exactly definitive...

They are working on it, but I heard that Peter Buck is off on a honeymoon around Music fest. Someone else has to step up to the plate.

Saw this blog post recently. While it assumes that the festival will be happening, it doesn't provide any backing information beyond what seems to be hopeful speculation.

My Todos Santos realtor tells me that Peter Buck has hired an event organizer for the Music Festival and that they'll be moving ahead. I'm hopeful that there will be an announcement of dates and performers soon. Granted, I'll be visiting in January with or without the festival, but it would be the icing on the proverbial cake.

Just to keep things interesting, I've just heard from another reliable source that the festival will *not* be happening in 2014. Nothing official yet from the Palapa Society or from Chloe Johnson.
