MRI in Baja
Other than TJ what locations in Baja have MRI equipment? La Paz? Loreto? Guerrero Negro? Ensenada? Anywhere else?

Good to know and personally a timely thread.
I'm accompanying my mother-in-law via private auto to La Paz tomorrow. She has acute cronic idiopathic anemia and doctors in Sta. Rosalia have been
unable to determine the underlying cause.
She has Seguro Popular and will not be going to Fidepaz but to another treatment center.
Oh, and if you would, please hold her in your thoughts, Nomads, for a good outcome.

Our neighbor here in Lopez just fell off his roof the other day and cracked his skull.
The ambulance took him to Constitucion.
The Dr. at the hospital felt he should go to LaPaz for an MRI, etc., so he went and came home yesterday.
Good Dr.s in La Paz.

Sending positive thoughts to her and to you. La Paz is a much better place for her to receive medical care. Save trip!
Duckfoot, definitely no MRI in Guerrero Negro.

Burboa Radiologos, Ensenada. An MRI runs about $300 American Dollars. Quote: | Originally posted by duckfoot

Fidepaz in La Paz |
Couple of items I was told by a La Paz doctor recently:
1) There's MRI machines in Fidepaz and the Salvatierra Hospital; said he wouldn't use the Fidepaz machine.
2) MRI service in La Paz costs about twice what it does on the mainland. |
So did this doctor give any other reasons or details on why he wouldn't use the Fidepaz machine? Would be nice to know.

Linda,
It's not usually the equipment that is the problem. It is usually the availability of radiologists to read the MRI's and get a timely and accurate
report. Quote: | Originally posted by bajalinda

Thanks, everyone, for you continuing good thoughts.
We arrived in La Paz this evening. She sees the doctor tomorrow.

A local dr. told me he would not send a steer to La Paz for an MRI.
The hotshot "local" hospital is the IMSS in Hermosillo. They do successful heart-lung-transplants there.

Social Security does heart and lung transplants? That's terrifying.
