Mexico Independance Day

I'm headed north on 16th to meet esposo in San Diego. Will everyone be celebrating today or tomorrow... The last time I tried to go anywhere on that holiday, it was a nightmare. Transpeninsula Hwy was blocked off in every town and hamlet along the way and traffic was diverted to back roads...

Anyone have any info on this???

If anything, it'll be worse. I wouldn't go anywhere near the border for the next two days. Monday is the holiday and Tuesday will be Monday for workers.

Last year we spent 5 hours in line at the border on the Thursday before Independence Day weekend. I wouldn't go anywhere near the border this weekend.

I'm less concerned with the border than I am just getting there. I didn't think it would be different, but wasn't sure about the day that all the parades are held (maybe multiple days??)

I love a parade and there will tons tomorrow. We watched one In San Vicente for 2 hours once. pulled up with the towns folk and cheered like everybody else.
I would very early, long before daylight get the wife and come home on Tuesday.

I love a parade too... but on a tight schedule doesn't work too well. I've notified my husband to not count on me meeting him in San Diego... given him a short shopping list and he will make the attempt to head south on the 17th... I used to have all the Mexican holidays in my outlook calendar... but they are not appearing now. Rats!

Thanks everyone!

We are headed into San Jose for the celebration tonight. We have never made it to El Grito. Maybe tonight will be the night!

Día de la Independencia de México video

Sorry I didn't realize that this utube video says that it is private when you click on it. The words to the song are there but you can't watch the performance for some reason. :?::?:
