If he is your best pal you will not subject him to the stress and treatment he will receive in a cargo hold...
I worked at SFO for 15 years and saw the way most baggage handlers treated dogs and cats...disgraceful !!!!!

jkruk,
I would go with Alaska. They do a great job with pets. I've escorted baja dogs north to be adopted in Portland on several occaisions. In fact I
brought four north last month. Alaska does this for free to help dog rescue groups in Baja. They seem to have a real desire to take care of these
animals.

Alaska is the ticket for me, as well.
I leave Portland with my dog in his crate, and as I board the plane for Loreto in Los Angeles, the gate agent hands me a tag that reads:
RELAX. I'M ON BOARD, TOO.

Great to know that about Alaska Airlines as we did not have such a good experience with flying our dog to Central America with another airlines.
Anyone know of any other airlines who seem to treat dogs as well as Alaska?

LAX to LTO your options are kinda limited.
Make sure your international health cert is current to within one week of arrival, with a rabies vaccination within the year. Also, check your friend
for hitchhikers. A tick will get your dog quarantined and/or deported. I learned that in Loreto the hard way.
