Caboites a question for you?

We have been to Cabo many times, both sides, but we are bringing my 25 year old son and his girlfriend with and I would like your recommendations for the following activities. Also we will be in San Jose near the Mega grocery store on the beach

Best beach bar experience

Best tacos etc.

Best dinning experience

Best off road rental near Pescadero or Los Cerritos area

Boat charter to Cabo Pulmo?

Your personal suggestion

For tacos try Asi Y Asado on the frontage road about 1/4 mile past Artisanos.

Can't really comment on the first five preguntas but my personal suggestion would be to skip it unless you are looking for a culture-less gaudy expensive day in miserable traffic.

San Jose:
Zipper's on the beach...watch surfers at lunch or, around the full moon, watch a moon rise, average food but something for everyone. Fish and chips are enough for two.
I don't know which hotel you are in but there is a new plaza called El Pescador where you will find a gourmet shop, tacos(we like Ten Tu Taco), Rock and Brew(Kiss/gene Simmons theme bar with live music), bike rentals, several other eateries. the good thing would be no driving....more fun!

I forgot.
If you get out to Puerto Los Cabos Marina please stop in to say hi. We are off the third traffic circle(signs there to follow) after you get off the bridge.

Also, the municipal mercado is a must for one meal....breakfast or lunch only. Best prices on souvenirs, too.

Our favorite seafood place is El Toro Güero. Call me for directions. Check U2U for my number.

Thursday night around dark expose the kids to some culture. Downtown San Jose has the art walk with all the galleries open. Go to Salsitas a block over from the Church and have a casuela. A great thirst quenching tequila drink served in a frozen clay bowl. Then you can hit some galleries on the way up Calle Alvaro Obrigon and you will have the choice of several nice places to eat including the Baja Brewery. End up at Ida Victorias gallery on Vivente Guerrero at the top of the hill. Always interesting stuff to look at. Then for dessert go down on the town square in front of the church and get a paleta at the little shop facing the square. I like lime.

I agree that Guacamayas is a great place for tacos in an outdoor setting under big citrus trees. Real casual and fun. I also second Zippers on the beach for decent bar food and feet in the sand. Seven Seas at the Baja Surf Hotel always has good food for more of a dress up in your best aloha shirt and first string flip flops kind of night.

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

Oh yeah, I forgot: Cheap, Tacky and Tastless too. It is actually ok if you're into watching a bunch of gringo butt cracks guzzling beer on the beach all day. I just happen to prefer Baja California del Sur.

CB checking a little further (per e) and for the purposes of providing ayuda to anyone else seeking such info am posting info aqui .. CPulmo is a restricted Marine Park thus in order to anchor must have federal permit which is extremely costly .. ya may well have to do the bumpy road in / out .. the good news is no sea sickness! hth .. Teo's in San Jose del Cabo on the main street near the Centro is great, the owner was a cook at Palmilla. Tasty Taco's & Burgers

Baja Brewing Company is as American as it gets down there but is still good. Near the Centro in SJ del Cabo.
Zippers is also great

I've found most the rental car companies are similar, Cactus Rental Car is the best. as far as I know none of the companies allow you to go off road but...its tough not to. So I think as long as your car doesn't come back trashed its ok.

Cabo Pulmo is great, eat at La Palapa if its open, right on the water, good food. You will find boats to take you out right next to the restaurant

Things change.
Teo's is closed.
As are El Chilar and Local 8, mentioned in chowhound.

Says a lot about the risk associated with the restaurant industry, Baja or anywhere.

On Chowhound or any review, always take note of the post date.
