XM/Sirius Radio in Baja

Can somebody tell me if XM/Sirius Radio works all the way down in Cabo or where it cuts out on the drive down?

Thank you

I usually start to loose XM just north of La Paz. IT cuts in and out. But at my house it works great. Probably since the house sits still.

I have heard that the new Sirius radios work fine all the time even down at the cape.

I'm hooked on The Loft, Bluseville and Outlaw Country. And a little NPR on the drive down just to mix it up.

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

This topic came up in a past post and it sounds like Sirius radios don't have a problem at all. My Dad gets great reception on Siruis in remote southern Guatemala.

We have XM because it came with the truck. We loose the signal intermittently between Loreto and Insurgentes and between Punta Pequeña and Insurgentes. On the 3 hour drive between Cd Constitucion and La Paz we have an XM signal for maybe 30 min-1 hour if we're lucky. I can't say for sure because I gave up trying to tune the radio anymore on that stretch.

We have XM in the house and have great reception but if you have a choice I'd get Sirius for your car.

Outlaw Country is my fav too (much to the dismay of my esposo). Elizabeth Cook cracks me up.

I started coming down w/100s of cds I had to take out of the case and put into a 3 ring notebook type of thing. I advanced to an mp3 jukebox w/ 20 gigs of storage holding several hundred albums. I thought I was above satellite radio and their hits of the 60's, 70's etc. We were given a set of sirrus xm equipment and I thought I'd give it a try for 1 winter in Baja. That was 3 years ago. I love it. There are reception issues as mentioned. In Pescadero BCS I get excellent reception. Sounds like we have similiar music interest El Jefe.

I also run a SONOS in mi casa in San Felipe
I have opened an Amazon account to store my music online.
I also use XM internet that works on my Sonos

XM cut out on us last year just south of Santa Rita (about 90 miles north of La Paz)... I think it worked okay again south of La Paz, but we had company in the Tacoma so didn't leave it on. Northbound from La Paz, the signal came back in once we were near Santa Rita. It works perfectly throughout the rest of the peninsula north of that point in our travels...

Wahoo! It was great when United Airlines added those with XM to their inflight listening package. It sure made the West Coast-East Coast commute a lot easier to deal with, used to do 100K-125 airline miles every year.

Our Sirius radio works great in the Jeep all the way from Oregon to Loreto, and the one in the house in Loreto never fails.

After a really windy spell I have to tighten the antenna anchor on the roof, but it always comes back in perfectly.

As for the one in the Jeep, it worked for me all the way to Todos Santos and back without a hitch.

We have always used Sirius and it works all the way down and in Cabo as well. It has never lost a signal anywhere in Baja or out on the boat.

Mine in both vehicles works everywhere on the peninsula (that I've been) including Santa Rita and Cabo.

We've had no issues with Sirius SOB on the road up and down the peninsula or at our home base in Mulege. Strange coincidence that your question was posted today. Sirius/XM is adding capacity to their satellite fleet. The monstrously powerful 20+KW Sirius FM-6 spacecraft built by SSL launches from Baikonur Cosmodrome Sunday, October 20, 2013.

Thank you for the replies. I think I'll pick one up before my next trip down there. Even though its really nice to enjoy Mexico and be away from US, its nice also to stay in touch with the news and sports. Camping these days is a lot different than years back

I am protesting XM/Sirius Radio

They have removed almost all of the Talk Stations

The only ones they have left are Cosmo, The gay talk (I can't remember the station number or name Q something) station and many other "focused" stations.

What's next Radio Classic's and Margaritaville?

i just replaced my old 12v cd/am/fm box in my trailer (was kaput) with a new model, and the xm unit from my truck works fine in the house now too. HOWEVER; last night i found out that the 'sports packages' that come in do not include the NFL; i'd have to pay more for that luxury. Dag nab it.

You now only get NFL games with the 'Premium' package. I found that out last season - much to my dismay..

I have had no problem with my XM reception all the way down to La Paz -- and then (ferrying over to the mainland) down to Morelia & Patzcuaro.

However, up here in the PNW USA, it's almost useless while driving in the wooded mountains. Stopped while camping in one spot is OK, though.
