One honest gas station
A newer Pemex station next to Sam's Club in Cabo is using an interesting method to market their station. Yesterday after ordering 800 pesos of Verde
the attendant brought out a 1 liter calibrated beaker and proceeded to put my first liter into it. He showed me that at exactly one liter on the
beaker the pump also showed exactly one liter. He then pumped my gas and finished off with using a funnel to put the last liter in the car.
I just thought it interesting that showing a station's "honesty" could be used as a marketing ploy. Doesn't say much for the overall honesty of the
fuel delivery system.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

A couple of weeks ago I was in Ensenada at the PEMEX station past the convention center going south and at the light where the 7/11 store is. I had
him fill my two 5 gallon plastic cans. I told him 20 liters each. He filled them to the 20 liter mark using two differnt pumps and then showed me the
meter was at 20 liters on each pump.

There is hope! Remember that temperature affects the exact amount, so if during the day you get slightly less, don't go crazy on them!
DavidE used to check Pemex pump accuracy... El Rosario's ('BajaCactus' family) was (as I recall) the only honest station, repeatedly...

Awhile ago there was a station busted here, California, they had rigged the pumps to pump true for the first five gallons, that's the way they are
tested. After the first five gallons, they were way off..........

Gauge 'Half' tanks should never equal 'true' half tanks, at least in anyone's mind!
Only by checking the gallons to fill your tank when your gauge is at the halfway mark will you know what is in there at that point... and do it more
than once to make sure your gauge is consistent.
The (Second Gen) Tacoma has a 21 gallon tank... and when the gauge is on the HALF line, I can only add 9 gallons to it (not 10.5). When it is on the E
line, I can add 18 gallons, with 3 gallons still in there... call it 'reserve' or just the hidden extra to get you to a station, perhaps. The needle
will go below the E line... but as a rule, one should not run on the bottom of the tank.
The low fuel warning light comes on with 4 gallons still in the tank, just above the E line on the gauge.

Yup... I did this for a thread on Tacoma World and added the data to my data link... I have the gallon used/remaining for each point on my fuel gauge
and repeated fill ups at those points show great consistency.
FULL: 21 Gal
3/4 Line: 16 Gal
1/2 Line: 12 Gal
1/4 Line: 8 Gal
Low Light: 4 Gal
E Line: 3 Gal

No, sorry... I think I had a 20 gallon tank in it, as they made a smaller tank too, I recall... I didn't get on TW (Tacoma World) until I got my
2010... or maybe briefly with my 2005?
It was comments there about MPG and how far on a tank that I started my own tank research. Too many were calling a 'tank' 18 gallons... and not
considering the 3 gallon 'reserve' below the E line... 
I enjoy details... so, it gave me something to do!
