First reports show it as 6.8 in the middle of the Sea --- That is one big quake!

Earthquake

Hope there is little damage on both sides of the sea

Just felt it here, about a minute ago just south of Sta Rosalia.

Looked it up on USGS site, epicenter middle of Sea of Cortez, about 50 miles east of Loreto. Initial seizmic report is 6.8. That's big enough to expect aftershocks, so watch out for falling concrete and bricks y'all.

I know, the last quake I felt was in my 5th wheel and I had to look outside to check it was not windy and really a earthquake. This time I was in the apartment on to of my garage, 20ft above ground and the whole garage was swaying and the barbecue grill was rattling. Quite a different experience here in the north end of Loreto near Picazon.

Even if you don't move north fast enough, the Ice Age progressing the past 15 years will help with the Baja Sur ski slopes! ;)
