Tecate crossing - parking?

I always cross at Tecate. Love the drive to Ensenada and never had a problem.

The only thing I don't like is the lack of parking while I go into the officia to apply and pay for my 6-month tourist permit. I'm always alone and don't feel comfortable at all driving around aimlessly and parking my rig on some back street.

I'll be crossing around the 24th and assume nothing has changed since last year. I'm driving a pickup truck with camper - anyone have a suggestion for parking? Much gracias, Rob

Tecate parking

Just south of the immigration office (and bank on your right) is a one way alley, continue south past that alley to the first cross street.

Make a right turn onto the cross street, then another right at the first intersection, then turn to the right into the alley.

Immigration has parking available, or an attendant will move some cones and let you park in the alley while you get and pay for your card.

Park your rig on the US side and walk over. Take care of business, then walk back and get your camper.

That's a good idea. There's never, ever a wait in the pedestrian line at Tecate.

Yeah, I was gonna do that last time but could find absolutely nothing - either a vehicle parked in every spot or a no-parking sign - finally gave up and crossed into Tecate where I found parking in front of a school. But, yes, I'd prefer to park on the US side.

Have been crossing at Tecate for years as we are usually coming from Havasu, but had to go back to so cal first. New crossing at TJ is great plenty of room and parking, bank etc. Depending on where you are coming from, I might still go to TJ Cliff

Excellent! I will try that! Should I tip the attendant?

Bob....whatever you think it is worth to you. I generally tip 40 to 50 pesos depending on what I have in my pocket
