Pumpkins in Baja?

This week in the US it's all things pumpkin. Kids dressed as them, dogs too. Pies, cookies, well you know the drill.

My question is, do pumpkins show up in Baja this time of the year?

Sure there are pumpkins in Baja.

The Ley in Insurgentes has them and there were some at the Sat. market in Lopez.

If you're crossing the border on your way south, they're all over the Mercado Hidalgo in TJ.

Nice one Ken, very nice. I like the colors a lot, but I also think it might make a good b & W.

Then again, the color really captures the feel of fall.

Do they make their way into restaurant menus like pies and pastries?

Usually in empanada form, or candied. Doņa Esthela in the Valle de Guadalupe makes the best pumpkin empanadas I've ever had. Get them on Saturday, they usually run out by Sunday.
